How often do you bath your yorkie?

Full coated Yorks get bathed 2x a week here, ones in puppy cuts 1x a week, and the puppies get bathed whenever they look dirty, lol which is about once a week.. lol

Every dog is different, some can handle baths every 2-3 days or once a week,and some can't. Just depends. I think to be on the safe side vets tell you 1-2 times a month, but you just have to try it and see if any irritation occurs, if it does, decrease the bathing times or find a more gentle shampoo. If not, Bathe on..lol

Ann, My molly has oily skin too (which is great for her coat!) and has to be bathed in a VERY stripping shampoo and I only condition the ends very lightly with a light conditioner. After trying everything under the sun.. my preferences are Coat Handler shampoo and Equyss Cloud 9 conditioner, just on the ends...she's bathed every 3 days also and is in full gorgeous coat, or her hair will be greasy just like a human's.

Is it ok to use a conditioner?

for now i just use a shampoo i bought from the grooming shop..called la pooch paris $20.00 and it smells amazing and the coat has a beautiful shine which lasts for a few days. Then i have a spray on conditioner/detangler/ by *Baby Dog* smells like baby powder.

i always wondered because the coat is so fine...if i used a conditioner with shampoo if it will make they coat flat or greasy.

ABSOLUTELY always use a conditioner! Just make sure you rinse well. A Yorkie's coat is supposed to be flat, not fluffy.

I bath and groom mine every other Saturday unless for some reason they need it sooner. They are indoors all the time in the winter and most of the time in the summer. My babies are small and I won't leave them out alone even though we have a fenced in area for them. There are just too many Redtail Hawks in our area to let them out alone. I bath them in PetSilk products.

i usually wash my friend's yorkie every time I dog sit him.. so once a week.. i often wash his feet... I think once a month seems to be right... I have read that most of the books ... My friend's yorkie goes to walk a lot... so I usually end up washing him since he gets dirty... But when i get a yorkie on my own.. I probably wash once a month
