New Puppy She already goes outside 90% of the time,we are also teaching her with bells on the door. She already sits and comes on command and starts school on Saturday. We are also crate training her,she is doing pretty good except for the following, for instance I work at nights sometimes so I took her out at 2:20 in the afternoon, she went #1.My son gets home at 3:15 and takes her out immediately.Between that time she went #2 what a mess she gets it on her paws, she really seems upset about this, this is the 3rd time this has happened in a week, the other 2 times where at night.I get up at 3:00 am and take her out,(I dont mind since I know she can only hold for so long at this age and I should only have to do this for a month or so) she usually will start barking if she needs to go out in the middle of the night,I go in the room and wait for her to completely stop barking or crying before I get her out,she usually will go both and is fine till morning 6:00am when my daughter will take her out.But when we come back in and I tell her its crate time and put her back in(remember its 3:00 am) she will start barking for about 15 minutes. We never give her crying or barking any attention when she is in the crate,.We divided the crate smaller like your supposed to,I also have done the drill where I would put her in for 5 minutes stay in the room and as long as she is not crying or barking then let her out.I also would put her in her crate if we are eating dinner and she would be in the same room with us and she would be fine(so she doesn't associate with being in the crate every time we leave or go to bed.I also would leave her crate open when shes out and put a treat in their, she will go get it sometimes eating it in there and then come out,she will be fine.I don't want her to keep getting #2 on herself when she is in her crate its a mess plus I think it really upsets her will she figure this out.

Babies are just like babies at times. They make messes and they definitely get dirty. You are putting in the right amount of work to help her understand. It will definitely take time for her to learn the rules. Ella used to cry in the night in her crate and when I didn't pay attention to it she finallly finally finally stopped and now she knows that she sleeps in there and she doesn't mind it. Training takes time, there aren't necessarily instant results. I read somewhere that dogs love routine, it makes them feel comfortable. You are still developing that routine for her. Keep at it, it will work. The stepping in her poop situation, maybe you could put doggie shoes on her. Ella sometimes gets up before she is done going #2 (impatient little girl) and then it is stuck to her (instant bath!!!). It is just what they do. Eventually she'll probably see that she doesn't want to step in it!!!

| I'm no expert but I'll give my opinion and try to help some.... other on here may be better at this than I am.... How long do you give her outside when you take her out? It sounds like maybe you should jsut keep her out a little longer when you take her outside. My lucy will pee right away when I take her outside, but it takes about 5 min. for her to find her spot to go # 2. With there only being an hour inbetween you and your son taking him out, then your pup should not have to go in that short of time. With the crynig thing..... I got Lucy at 8 weeks and she gave me trouble the first night and that is it. What I have done is put her crate on a tall t.v. tray that you use to sit at your couch and eat, and I put her crate on that. The first weeks or two all I had to do is say "no go to sleep" when she would wine and then she would stop. I think she likes being close to us at night and she can see us.....also I just got another puppy last friday and we put him on a tv tray beside my husband and he has given us no problems either.... I'm not sure when most yorkies sleep through the night but my Lucy had slept through the night except the first day withought having any accidents in her crate..... same with my new puppy.... he's a minature schnauzer but he sleeps through the night also Crystal

Sometimes these little ones can't hold it all night, esp. when they are so young. What time is her last feeding? I found if you don't feed to late at night, that helps. I free feed all my Yorkies, but pick up the food around 7:00pm. I do leave the water down. By the way, welcome to YT.

I dont crate train so I dont have any advise on the subject. Gucci is pee pad train. Your pup is 10 weeks old so I think she is doing pretty good considering. Try to stay a bit longer outside. I agreed with not feeding her after 7pm. I do the same with Gucci, i free feed her but around 7 pm I pick the food not the water. I think you have being doing pretty well potty training her. Good luck. Im sorry I wasn't of much help. Cant wait to see pics of your little girl. What's her name?

This is what I found!!! Cassie no matter how small an area I made for her in her crate, she would go in it. Thought then I would try this-- I put her crate in the bedroom with me, then put a piece of plastic down with her pee pad on it , with about 10" of plastic around the pad. Then I put a leash on her so she could not get off of the plastic. She just normally started then to go on the pee pad and then go back in her crate to sleep again. This she could do all by herself. Just make sure she is in the bedroom with you, just in case she got caught on something.
