| wireless fence and collar are there any wireless (not dig in wire underground) fences safe for a 3 lb Yorkie? I am looking at this one because it is highly rated but don't want to fry my Denny I can't use a regular fence as I border a lake on one end https://www.petsmart.com/dog/crates-...ml?cgid=100230 https://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/mo...r-marker-1.png |

| This seems to work well for larger dogs but don't think I would subject a 3lb Yorkie to this. Just my personal opinion. |

| Absolutely not. It’s not made for small dogs and could potentially kill her. It also does not keep other things like prey animals or even people out. An animal could come in and eat her or just kill her. A person also could just decided to come take her. A 3lb dog shouldn’t even be outside alone.

And does not keep other DOGS out. These electric fences require your dog to wear a shock collar, that's what keeps them with-in electric fenced area. Dogs and other animals can enter because they DO NOT have a shock collar on them.

| I agree about the tiny 3lb dog, but not about the 15lb dog. They can be safe if the doggie learns right away (and smart dogs do!!!). Even my sweet but not-the-smartestts golden retreiver figured it out immediatelly many years ago and got to play accross a much bigger yard because of it. Graanted she couldnt be eaten by hawks and owls and foxes and coyotes. A 15lb dog is reallly different than a 3lbs dog (5X---Imagine if you knew someone 5x the size/wieght of you!!!) If they keep running at the fence and getting zapped (as a big dog), well i would not let that continue but it was an OK try. As a tiny dog it cant handle this and its not right and not the way to go at all. |

| Oh, I guess this depends where you are, good point!! If there are threats outside, this "fence" wont keep them out, its only for keeping bigger dogs IN. I guess i was asuming people know its not magic!! but it can be helpful if you are watchful and protect but want the doggie to have more space!!! but right you still need to watch and be carefully!! And if giant dogs live outside then its prolly not safe!! Last edited by Yorktowny; 01-22-2020 at 06:17 PM. |

| Watching isn’t always enough. Some dogs might completely take off and you can’t catch them or if a predator is in the yard and they are to far you can’t get to them in time.
