No I just am done wasting my time with you and I’m not going to spend my time looking up articles. You are not interested in an article you are interested in arguing more and I’m not. You want to confirm it then go look it up. It’s been all over my Facebook for areas that aren’t even mine so it shouldn’t be to hard to find.

It sounds like this whole issue/discussion is getting out of hand. Maybe it's time to just agree to disagree about what is best for our furbabies. Each owner/parent is responsible for their own and will have to enjoy the decisions that are made or live with the consequences.

I wasn’t going to respond but decided too. It seems to get out of hand when people take things to personally, rewrite things that aren’t there and so on. It’s just disrespectful of people to say what other people are having seen that is a fact is an urban legend. It’s also wrong for the baiting and trying to get people to lose control and freak out on them. Sadly this seems to continue to happen and be an issue. The facts are something that is not rewritable or even an opinion but actual fact. It’s just a shame it gets to that point.

My dog runs free in my fenced in yard with me there watching him, he is never left unattended and he is not a wee little 5 pounder. I take all measures in keeping him safe, if anything happened to him due to my negligence I would never be able to forgive myself, my choice. We all have choices and we have to live with the choice we make.
I agree with Matese 100%! As I posted earlier, I, too, allow Piper out in her little fenced yard (we are surrounded by homes, large yards), but NEVER unsupervised! These little ones are a whole 'nother animal (I raised German Shepherds); they are more vulnerable and more susceptible to danger--from other dogs, foxes, coyotes, birds-of-prey, getting hold of something bad to eat...it just doesn't take much to really, really hurt these guys. Add to that, the (generally) brave, determined, curious, tenacious personality of Yorkies and you got yourself a handful!!

Matese is completely non-judgmental, she is simply offering you advice based on her years of experience so that you may enjoy your little one for many years to come.

YOU CANNOT BE TOO CAREFUL. YOU CANNOT BE TOO CAREFUL, TOO VIGILANTE!!

#1 – Yorkshire Terrier

Holy Moley. Ok, German shepards, labs are down at the bottom - this may be an older count. But any could be used as a potential mating dog? Sell to puppy mill - or if it is so friendly to approach a stranger, could have pet potential (stolen pet potential) - it is free.

I am on a "thing" all about the new information on the COYOTE population in the Town I have lived in for less than a year...HUGE population. I recall seeing a couple in a little municipal airport, called them about the loose dogs, and was told: those are coyotes. About a year ago.

Not much to think about until 630pm december 19th - and I am walking my small leashed pet - who just stopped - froze - would not move. Looked at her to be sure she wasnt ill - and then the HOWL across the street from my right shoulder. Hiding somewhat by a shrub near apartment building.
Just.watching.me.and.pet.

Was this the "with child" female calling mate or pack to help with me - larger prey - to get to a nice snack: my pet?

I had no idea. My legs turned to rubber. NW INDIANA COYOTES? what??!!!??

It was warm, I threw on flip flops/jeans/hoodie and set out to take Tulip for a potty break. Not really dressed for a confrontation at all: HEAVY BOOTS to kick with?

After the howl - I slowly picked Tulip up, stuck her in my hoodie and walked backward to the closest home. Kept looking back a bit to see if there was another behind me? Knocked on door and the woman gave us a ride home across the street a bit.

They picked up the scent yards away. We were downwind, I suppose. ***Still learning.

I heard the yipping - but thought it was kids down the block having fun on break? NO. This was the den/pack/whatever.
Five minutes later, I get howled at.

The trails behind my home are very overgrown and lots of places to hide to sleep and to attack. We are far from rural - most new developments are now 14 years old. Although there is something going on with some commuter train that they are digging up green spaces all over.

Coyotes jump 6ft fences with pets in mouth. Or take to a shrub and rip it apart.

They tend to sleep during where ever they decide. Sometimes napping in the daytime in a backyard. Or, just walking down the street...

Please - be aware. They DO approach humans in the day time. Attacks ARE on the rise. Many DO have distemper, rabies, mange, etc.

Thank you for your coyote information, awareness is mandatory in keeping our little fur babies safe.

I am formally from The Bronx NY. The Bronx borderlines Westchester County NY, coyotes were coming into residential areas of The Bronx. I would never have believed this if I had not been told by one of my co-workers who told me how he could not safely walk his small dog because of the coyotes now in his area. He lives just on the Bronx / Westchester County border line.
I now live in a heavily wooded area in Pa. I hit a coyote at 4AM while driving to the commuter bus depot just 4 miles from where I live. I see coyotes 6 miles from my home in the day time. I am forever watchful when I take my fur kid out at night to potty, I take a bat with me. Here in Pa. it is legal to shoot one if on your property. Pa. is over populated with coyotes and hybrids.

And.....thank you for the link on 10 most popular dogs to be stolen and the reason why.

Just because someone has posted something that could be considered controversial or rude doesn't mean I have to respond. It's my choice to make a comment about a post. If I can't say something positive and helpful then I don't need to say anything. It's my choice. Do I ignore something that could be considered rude or much too opinionated or do I fuel the fire and say something. I'm choosing to ignore comments that add no value to the question.

My problem was not with you and what I was sharing was very relevant. There are people on this forum that have larger dogs too so the information I was trying to share was very relevant and useful but I was being told I was sharing an urban legend and that I was lying which sadly some people might believe. I was also being baited to freak out when I was just trying to share real and helpful information. It’s very frustrating when that happens.
