I answered that in the above post.

I just switched him to regular dog food (Kibble) the name is
Annamaet 23 % protein.

I get it from chewie.com

This is what I replied to you

Cody is a rescue, I started him off on Natural Balance limited ingredients, he ate that for 1 1/2 years, this kid is not a picky eater, for whatever reason he would not eat that anymore. For appox. 4 1/2 years he's been eating Wellness Core grain free, reduced fat for adults, he loves it. In Nov. Cody had to see the vet, I bought in a empty bag of Wellness for vet to see, vet tells me get him off grain free. The concern is that Grain Free Diets may lead to taurine deficiency and that taurine deficiency has been linked to Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM) in dogs.

Cody weighs 12 Lbs, the small breed brands of regular dog foods the kibble was tiny, to tiny for Cody he was having issues chewing these tiny kibbles . I was moaning to my groomer who breeds and shows miniature Poodles about not being able to find a kibble size the size of the Wellness Core. She brings out a few kibbles of what she feeds her poodles, they were a wee bit smaller but better then the small breed brands I had tried. So I just finished doing a one month lol transition to the new food which is Annamaet 23% protein.

The one BIG change in switching him from grain free to regular food is.....he doesn't stink anymore, a day after grooming he would STINK, he pees, poops he is cleaned off with baby wipes, and I clean his pads in case he walks in the pee. I bathe him, the next day he stinks. He is my first boy, my girls never stunk, so I am thinking it's a boy dog thing. 2 weeks into the transition I realize he doesn't stink, as of Jan. 6th he is on the new regular food and no more stink whoopie.......

See my thread
FDA names 16 brands of dog food linked to canine heart disease
Nulo
Is on the list. Like Lovetodream advised, use Dog Food Advisor for recalls.
I don't know who lists the 10 Best dog foods, where they get this information from.

Welness Core is in several complaints filed to FDA but they didn't make the list of brands in the report, perhaps the complains were filed after the initial report publishing. Your example shows that it's important to check in with a vet you trust form time to time even if you've been feeding the same food for years...

I can vouch that some boys don't stink Mike took weekly baths in summer but once crazy temps went down since October it's a bath once every 4-5 weeks or so. I do wash his face/head more often since he has a longer beard and ponytail and things from outside and food gets there but no body odor I didn't think it can be food related.

I believe the smell coming off Cody was coming from his body, the way we emit sweat I believe the food he was eating was emitting an odor from his body. Cody gets groomed every 5 weeks, he sports a puppy cut all year, I bathe him 2 weeks after grooming, the day after the bath he would stink. I have hair products for him that can be used daily, it's like a dry shampoo but in spray form, I used this every 3rd day. Every time he peed or pooped I cleaned him with Pampers original baby wipes. Now that he is off the grain free food, no more stink His poop is much smaller then when he was on the grain free. He was also pooping 3 times a day, very stinky poop, now he is pooping twice a day and I don't need a gas mask on to pick up the poop.

Thanks. Now all I need to do is decide what will be best for Gidget. Seems dog parents can't agree on the best choice. We face the same thing when we see a doctor for ourselves and ask for a second opinion. It seems everyone has a favorite dog food that works well for their little ones. It's up to each dog parent to decide for themselves.

As well as keep some facts in mind like the heart disease issues, wether there are vets on staff, that they do feeding trials and if they have good quality control. Also keeping in mind of any lawsuits and big issues that might have happened in the last couple years maybe even whether the FDA has had to get involved. I’m not going to say it’s easy to pick a food but when you start narrowing it down then it gets a little easier. I wish we had better laws to protect or babies with their food.

I will tell you that it depends on what you feed your dog. Dogs should not be given mixed food, no matter what you mix. If you feed dry food, feed only dry food. The same goes for natural food. If you forget to go to the store, your dog can be patient. Trust me, nothing bad will happen to her. Missing a meal is not as bad as indigestion or something worse. Nothing sweet, salty, or spicy should be given. By the way, if you want more info, I would suggest you go to your vet and he can tell you why your Yorkie has been stinking or just learn this here now

There is nothing wrong with mixing wet and dry together. Many many many dog owners do this.

Thank you so much for such valuable and helpful information. I just recently bought a York, and now I'm learning more and more about this breed. First of all, I would like to know what food is better to feed my dog. Also, I need to know what supplements and vitamins my dog needs. I recently read an article on Ruff Hero about vitamins and supplements, although I do not know which ones are best to buy for my York. I know that many Yorks have problems with the gastrointestinal tract, so you need to examine your dog constantly. I think you need to do this every half a year. Thank you again for such a thread. It helped me a lot!

Congratulations on your new puppy.
Yes, YT has a wealth of info. on the yorkie breed. I happy to know you are benefiting from it.
It's really hard to say which dog food is best for any dog. Dogs like humans have their likes and dislikes.
Yorkies are known to be picky eaters so that is going to be a hit and miss adventure finding a good quality food that your dog will eat.
As for supplements and vitamins, your vet should be able to provide that for you or at lease provide with with information on what to look for.
I buy my supplements with vitamins directly from my vet and sprinkle it over his food. Your vet is the best person to advise you on supplements and vitamins. As the saying goes, one size does not fit everyone, same goes with for our fur babies.

I am a huge fan of companies that have Vets on staff, have good quality control and do feeding trials like Royal Canin. I would stay away from the Dog food advisor as he is just a human dentist and he only rates food by ingredients which isn't how it should work. If you use a food with the AAFCO label there is no need to add any vitamins they will be getting everything they need.

This can't be real! Why should our dogs eat such food? Poor doggos. I read an article on Dog Training that mentioned something similar, so scary what's happening on the market right now. By the way, if any of you dog owners want your dog to stay happy, never forget to walk it regularly to keep its happy hormones level adequate. Good luck to everyone, and I hope my dog didn't eat the kind of food you wrote about. Otherwise, I’m gonna cause a crapstorm over this. I feed my boy better than I do myself.
