| Welcome to Yorkie ownership... and by that I mean being owned by a Yorkie!! I've always been a pet person, but now I have the joy of being commanded by two little ones!

Love your story. I was one of those "if people want to dress up dogs, why don't they just have a baby?" sorts. Now my "baby" is five pounds of hair, lets me hold him like a human baby, and actually strokes the side of my face when I put him to bed at night. My husband now has another "son". We are very blessed.

Yep, you are hooked ( line & sinker ) and congratulations on being owned by your first & most likely NOT your last yorkie. AND no you don't need therapy as that little dog who stole your heart & any ounce of good sense you thought you ever had is all the therapy you need. Welcome to YT !

Oh, I feel a kinship to you. My father never allowed pets, and I never wanted one. I finally caved at (I got you beat) one month away from 47. The same thing happened. Zeus was supposed to be my husband's and son's dog. Didn't happen. He is 100% mine. I, too, fit your list. I won't go anywhere my dogs aren't welcome. We don't go eat out, because I don't want to leave without them. Unfortunately, we both work but would prefer to be stay-at-home dog parents. Oh well, such is life. My husband had the bright idea that he will get a second Yorkie that will be his and my sons. One year and two months after Zeus, we got his half-brother, Perseus. Guess what, he is also mine! I love these babies so much. They both sleep right beside me every night. Happiness and love on 8 legs. I wonder how I lived almost 47 miserable years not knowing what this kind of unconditional love is. Regrets for sure. I would have never thought I would dig through doggy poo to look for the shouldn't have swallowed it object, but I definitely have. I think you are perfectly normal (at least I hope so for my sake) and wish you the best of love with your baby!

Congratulations!! Sir, it sounds like you are just, plain and simple - a GOOD MAN who loves a little Yorkie who needs to be loved. Thank you so very much for giving Otto the opportunity to have a good life. It takes a really BIG person to do the right thing - and it sounds like you did just that. You gave your wife the opportunity to have a Yorkie in her life, you helped give Otto a good life and somewhere along the way you just found yourself lost and in love!

Thanks for all the replies! We just came back from a wonderful quick trip in the forest. I forgot to tell you that I am located in Costa Rica. Also some other random thoughts on this wonderful experience with Otto: Otto has papers as his father/mother are 100% yorkies, not that it would have bother me at all if otherwise. He came microchipped, potty trained (which was surprising as since day 1 he has not had any accident inside his new home) and I suspect he was crate trained earlier in his life as he likes to stay under our bed for some hours during the day, he doesnt seem anxious when he is left alone and he doesnt break or tinker with cords etc. We nuttered him recently and he seems to enjoy his new life. He does bark at people and kids from time to time and pushes the leash when walking, this happens specially during afternoon walks. Need to work on that! Regarding tricks and commands, well he is no Misa Minnie! Which brings me to his weight and size, at 13lbs he is no teacup , maybe KitchenAid mixer cup?!!!! Here are come pics of Otto!

Oh my goodness, this is the best thread I've ever read. I feel your pain, but I've had other kinds of dogs I loved. I ADORE my 2 year old Yorkiepoo (we found out her genealogy 75% Yorkie, 25% Miniature Poodle.
