| She got gray and black and tan or blonde and a little bit red in her. I just wish that we knew what color she will be for good. but she does have more black in her then any other color beside gray I think. |

| My now passed 4 girls as adults their hair remained the same, never changed. My boy's hair on his back only has been changing the last 2 years, I find it interesting and love the color changes. As long as his loving personality doesn't change lol.

| Yorkies head, face, chest, belly, legs is tan to blonde in color, although it is not unusual to see a reddish color. Their backs and tail can be light grey, dark grey, black even a mix of light, dark grey with black in it. One of my girls was pure black on the back and tail, head, face, chest, belly and legs were auburn, she stayed that color all her life, another girl was pure black on the back and tail, the rest was tan to blonde in color all her life, my other two were silver grey and tan. Coloring comes from the genetics of the parents and grandparents of both the mating male and female. The saying "dogs look like their owners" is just a joke, although I have seen many dogs that do look like their owners lol.

| I just googled your question, and here is your answer. Adult Yorkie, Mature Coat A Yorkie's coat gradually changes for up to two years, and it may stabilize only to change again -- perhaps even into the third year. An adult's hair color can vary from a dark, steel blue to a light, silvery blue. Typically, the black turns blue (a diluted black coloring), yielding a dark steel blue or a shiny silver. Generally, an adult will have more tan and gold coloring, making its coat much lighter than a puppy's.

| I believe for most Yorkies it's true that the colour changes generally stop at 2-3 years. What I did notice though is that with short hair it appears to constantly change colours. While for those who keep the hair long, the gradual colour change is what gives the coat the beautiful Yorkie look - similar to highlights.

| I think some change their whole lives and others don't. Callie is 10 and her hair still changes colors. Joey is 1 and he seems to be staying the colors he is when he grew out of his puppy coat. Penny just turned a year and is still changing.
