I believe for most Yorkies it's true that the colour changes generally stop at 2-3 years.
What I did notice though is that with short hair it appears to constantly change colours. While for those who keep the hair long, the gradual colour change is what gives the coat the beautiful Yorkie look - similar to highlights.
