about hair color I just wanted to know what age does they stop changing color. I thought I read some where it said at 4 years old. But she is still changing and she will be 6 year old this month. thanks for taking the time to read this post. |
My boy is 6 yo and hair on his back the color is still changing, it was silver grey, then turned black, now he's sorta salt and pepper but black is coming back again lol. |
She got gray and black and tan or blonde and a little bit red in her. I just wish that we knew what color she will be for good. but she does have more black in her then any other color beside gray I think. |
It is supposed to be 2 years old I believe but my 10 year old still is changing colors lol |
My now passed 4 girls as adults their hair remained the same, never changed. My boy's hair on his back only has been changing the last 2 years, I find it interesting and love the color changes. As long as his loving personality doesn't change lol. |
I never heard of 2 years old just the 4 years old. my aunt dog her face to be the only part change more often. when we got ours she had gray on the head but now it is tan blonde little bit of red to it and there are some black mixed in there you might see gray in there but I haven't in a long time. |
I think that my aunt dog is going to stay gray just like my aunt hair is. my mom said that our dogs look like us since mine has different hair color's in her I have blonde light brown and now some gray. and my aunt has all gray just like her dog does. |
Yorkies head, face, chest, belly, legs is tan to blonde in color, although it is not unusual to see a reddish color. Their backs and tail can be light grey, dark grey, black even a mix of light, dark grey with black in it. One of my girls was pure black on the back and tail, head, face, chest, belly and legs were auburn, she stayed that color all her life, another girl was pure black on the back and tail, the rest was tan to blonde in color all her life, my other two were silver grey and tan. Coloring comes from the genetics of the parents and grandparents of both the mating male and female. The saying "dogs look like their owners" is just a joke, although I have seen many dogs that do look like their owners lol. |
yeah but mine is a mixed of colors. I just wanted to see if there was a age where they stop changing colors all the time. |
I just googled your question, and here is your answer. Adult Yorkie, Mature Coat A Yorkie's coat gradually changes for up to two years, and it may stabilize only to change again -- perhaps even into the third year. An adult's hair color can vary from a dark, steel blue to a light, silvery blue. Typically, the black turns blue (a diluted black coloring), yielding a dark steel blue or a shiny silver. Generally, an adult will have more tan and gold coloring, making its coat much lighter than a puppy's. |
she is way over 2 years old going to be 6 year old next week. and she keep on changing color but the only color that has stayed more is the black and some gray and tan. but she getting a lot more tan on her back side. I thought that they was going to stop changing color for good at some point. I guess not. |
I believe for most Yorkies it's true that the colour changes generally stop at 2-3 years. What I did notice though is that with short hair it appears to constantly change colours. While for those who keep the hair long, the gradual colour change is what gives the coat the beautiful Yorkie look - similar to highlights. |
she is on the short side with the hair. and she still changing color. she was doing a lot of it when she was younger but at 3 I think she was doing a lot of it then. this past few weeks I been seen lot of tan in the black hair. |
I think some change their whole lives and others don't. Callie is 10 and her hair still changes colors. Joey is 1 and he seems to be staying the colors he is when he grew out of his puppy coat. Penny just turned a year and is still changing. |
maybe she will be changing her whole life then. |
