| how to get my yorkie to stop pooing on my rug Hello: So I adopted this little girl approximately three weeks ago. She is Pee Pad trained. She will go pee on the pads but not poo. She'll only go poo on my yellow designer rug and it's getting to me. I need for her to please stop. I need help with this one. Any suggestions would be very helpful! Thank you in advance!! FYI... She's 15 months old. |

Baby girl is just seeking a spot she feels most comfortable to poo and right now, it's your precious rug! Later, you can very carefully and with much oversight re-introduce the rug after she's made herself some new habits of where to poo and those habits are long-ingrained in her psyche. But for the time being, I'd make it totally impossible for her to get to my designer rug.

| Welcome to YT and thank you for rescuing. I agree with yorkietalkjilly, remove the rug or, block that room off so she cannot get to it. This little girl is going through many changes right now, new momma, new home, new smells, new sounds, new schedules. She has so many new things to get use to. I would not give her free roam of the home, confine her to one area when she cannot be supervised. Treat reward and praise like crazy when she pees or poops on the pad. Even if she was 100% pad trained before coming to you does not mean she will hit the mark in her new home, consistency and lots of patience are key factors in potty training a new pup.

| Thank you both so much! Yes, consistency and patience is key. I'm new to this too, and we will just have to work and learn together. Thank you for putting things into perspective for me. I love this little girl and I don't want to do anything to break our growing bond. |

| Be sure to use pet stain remover on the spots she uses, it might help to stop repeated mistakes in that area. |

| Yep! Agree with everyone. Block off your designer rug completely and don't give her access to it for a long while. Make sure you also clean the rug with something like Nature's Miracle Cleaner.
