| Insurance option I did not know about--accident/injury only. I was just looking and found a plan that covers accidents and injuries only. I really do not want to pay for basic care insurance (vaccines, illness), since I do most that myself anyway. I also set back $20.00 minimum a month just for unexpected care for this special guy to make the financial blow easier should he need care. I will probably keep doing that for a while anyway. This policy does cover: Trauma Poisoning Bite (animal, insect, snake) Hit by car or moving vehicle Foreign body ingestion requiring surgical intervention Bone fracture Laceration, cut, abrasion Wound Torn nail Medical problems directly attributable to accidental injury It is a lot cheaper per month ($6.44), and these are really more the things I worry for Mario. The basic care or a moderate illness I can afford to do on an incident by incident basis. A major injury is another story, and since I live in the country on a mini farm, AND he is a service dog, an accident/injury is more likely. So, if anyone else is interested in strictly an accident policy, I just paid $77.26 for a whole year for Mario ($500.00 deductible, 80% reimbursement, $10,000.00 a year, $200,000.00 lifetime). I paid for the whole year at once to save the transaction fee. Here is the site: https://www.petsbest.com/enroll/plan...?petId=1315643 (Same as VPI I believe). The accident only option is at the bottom, and you have to make sure none of the other choices are selected. I just printed his policy and will read it with a fine tooth comb, so if I have any add ons for this post, I will add them later.

| And, if anyone is going to get this policy after reading my post, I would appreciate if you use this link to show I referred you and you would get $12.00 off the first year: https://www.petsbest.com/customerportal#

| I'm am absolutely going to check this out and just by reading your description, will probably do exactly as you did---accident only and pay for the year. I will definitely note that you referred. Will let you know after reading the link. And thank you, Mayzoo; for your information and for caring. |

| The page you tried was not found. You may have used an outdated link or may have typed the address (URL) incorrectly. I used the second link you posted. |

| Ah, we posted at the same time. You may have to call and give them that referral ID PH5843375 and see if they are still doing the $12.00 off for you.

| There are a lot of companies that are insurance accident/only. We have Embrace and wellness is optional.

I am sure Embrace covers something PetsBest does not or the argueing is less, when you do need it, with Embrace. I am sure there is a reason. I went with PetsBest because of the price difference and because, just like everyone, I hope to never need it, so I do not want to pay a lot for it. For us, it really is strictly is a true emergency insurance for a bizarre and expensive occurrence. I can take care of minor or moderate costs for the little guy, but $10,000 (not reimbursed) does not come as easily.

| Embrace seems to cover cancer treatment and some genetic conditions in their accident plan. PetsBest does not.

I went with the $500.00 deductible by deciding $10,000 a year outlay (say the little guy was hit by a car or bit by a snake---easily could be $10,000) then that would be 80% if $10,000 plus $500.00, so $2500.00 plus incidentals the insurance does not cover. I think it is awesome we can each pick what fits our budget and lifestyle rather than a one size fits all insurance options.
