| ![]() When I worked in Manhattan NYC, I was SHOCKED to see how many stores allowed dogs in their shoppes. If I know I am going shopping and want to take Cody, I call the stores ask if my tiny lol (he's 12 lbs) yorkie can be in the store if he's in a carrier, some say NO, some like Staples say they don't know lol, so in Staples I went with Cody in a front carrier, him batting his eyes and looking all dreamy who could resist him lol. No one said a thing to me. My Walmart does not allow dogs, service dogs only, BUT, I read a Walmark worker IS NOT ALLOWED to ask you to leave the store, I don't go to Walmart a lot so I have not tried them. I "thought" Targot allowed dogs, so in I go with Cody in his front carrier, I hear "excuse me" I don't turn around I keep walking because that is NOT my name, again I hear "excuse me" I still keep walking, get to the aisle I am looking for, get what I want and off to the check out I go, I never heard a 3rd "excuse me" lol, the cashier did not tell me dogs were not allowed, so does Targot allow dogs IDK lol. Bed, Bath and Beyond allow them and cashier gives treats at check out. Best Buy allows dogs, but, Cody is always in his front carrier, he is never hidden. There have been many times I have taken Cody with me, not planning on going to any stores, when out I may realize I need to hop into a store, like CVS pharmacy, I plop Cody into the front carrier and in I go, no one has never told me dogs are not allowed. His front carrier is always in my car, I have two the other is in my truck so I am always prepared. I don't have phone numbers for every store, sometimes I just take a chance, sure I would be embarrassed if I was told I had to leave but then I would know for the next time. I NEVER take him into a supermarket.

| ![]() I take Piper to Wal-Mart, Big Lots, Dollar Store, CVS, Home Depot, Lowes, thrift stores, and such. I carry her into the store (never try to hide her) and then let her walk on leash so she can shop, too! If store is busy or when we're in aisles that have food items, I hold her. Also, I make sure Piper looks put together and that her coat and breath are fresh. I want to be respectful and considerate so as not to lose the privilege of having Piper in store. |

YT 500 Club Member | ![]() I once took my Yorkie into a gun store holding him in my arms. Some mean lady that worked there screamed at me to get him out. Believe that! A gun store! Stupid! I'll never go back there with or without my baby! 😡

| ![]() I take my two almost everywhere with me. Now, I try to stick to more dog friendly places... but they have been to Costco, Wal-Mart, movie theater, restaurants, the mall, etc. Some dog friendly (at least in my town) are: Bed Bath and Beyond, Petsmart, Petco, Home Depot, and any store that does not serve food. I enjoy taking my two with me, but we try to visit dog friendly places with them because they get to enjoy the visit more, sit in the cart and have more fun.

| ![]() PLEASE do not sneak your dogs in places. This makes it very hard for people with service dogs. Leave your pups at home. Outdoors is fine, and pet friendly shops are fine, but please do not bring your dog places it does not belong.

| ![]() Wal mart CAN ask you to leave, and if I see you in there with a disruptive pet dog, I will report to management. I have many times. Target is NOT pet friendly. It says on the doors, Service animals only.

| ![]() Just an FYI, no dog has a "right" to be in a store. Only the disabled person has the right to use whatever means are necessary to mitigate their disability, which includes service animals. However, even a service animal can be banned under the right conditions. Of course, some places allow animals, which is great. Non-disabled people frequenting places that welcome dogs does not jeopardize service dog access. Taking a dog into a place that does not welcome animals could easily jeopardize the laws that so many rely on to allow them to go out into the public more freely. Being allowed to take our service animals in with us is a right of the person, but it is a right that we could lose if it is abused by the masses. I cannot even describe how much Mario has helped my daughter be able to go out into the public and to doctors appointments. I would surely hate to see her lose this tremendous benefit/freedom we have found in Mario. Additionally, I would be very unhappy to discover that the last year I spent intensively training Mario to meet/exceed public access test criteria was for naught.

| ![]() I take him everywhere he can go- outdoor restaurants, vacations, pet stores, hardware stores (Home Depot, Ace, Tractor Supply, etc), car wash (local one loves dogs, they can wait inside with you or out), when I get my oil changed, things of that nature. He's often with me when I am on the road, traveling, running errands etc. He loves it & is very well behaved.

| ![]() Chewie goes every where with me. I had an incident at Trader Joes. This... woman.. (still angry) picked her bag up and hastily put it back down when Dan gave her the eye. She was a worker and she said, dogs aren't ALLOWED to be near food, so take her out of the cart. If I want her near my freaking food, I can, but I digress. I waited to calm down and called the next day. I mention it because it's the only bad experience I've had. |

| ![]() I didn't know Bed, Bath and Beyond was dog friendly... I'll have to go next time! The only places I've taken M/Z is Home Depot and Lowe's. (And of course, pet stores.) I believe their policy says "no dogs allowed other than service dog", but I believe the employee(s) won't ask you to leave unless another customer complains. I won't take them to anywhere that has food (unless it's a restaurant which has outside seating and allows dogs.). And if it's a HD/L that I haven't been to before, I ask an employee if it's okay to bring them in with me. It's usually a good experience b/c most ppl either don't mind or love seeing them but I have come across few... rude ppl that made unnecessary comment or gives me (us) that "she's one of those ppl..." look that makes me want to punch them.. LOL The most recent one was where a woman says to her husband "I don't know why they allow dogs in here, a lot of ppl are allergic to dogs..", while walking past me. (We were at Lowe's) Magnus is on a 6' leash while Princess Zoey is carried in the doggie backpack. She won't come out of the car unless I show her the backpack and assure her she doesn't have to walk. LOL ![]() |

| ![]() Sorry for your loss... I take Scottie everywhere too just like LoveMyBeowulf. I keep him concealed unless it's a place that allows dogs. The only time I ever got kicked out, embarrassingly, was at a hockey game. They do security checks and asked to look in my purse. I was like, um, I have a dog inside. I ended up having to drop him off at home and go back to the arena. Luckily I live close by. But it was embarrassing. I just wasn't thinking lol...

It's funny...I've been to places like a jewelry store (in a mall that doesn't allow dogs) where the saleswomen saw Scottie and they all crowded around me, all 10 of them bored to death because there's no one shopping, asking to see him and requesting that I take him out to walk around. lol... They'd totally freak Scottie out if he was out of his bag. Heck, they sorta freaked me out. I felt like we were a piece of steak in a lion's den. We ended up leaving because I couldn't even get service to see the rings I wanted to see!
