| We could not keep our little guy off the back of the sofa no matter how much we tried. One day he fell off, so I put a length of tin foil over the top of the sofa, and he hasn't been up there since. Lovely decor - goes well with the doggy steps and dog toys - but at least he's safe! |

| Cash is 9 months old now and we have decided that he thinks he's a cat! Cash also jumps, climbs and is an adventurous wee guy! I too was worried he would hurt himself but he just seems to land on his feet! It's so funny the traits all these wee guys have in common! |

| Bella is a certified flier too. I worry about her apparent lack of fear or common sense when it comes to it. I am constantly worried about her knees over the long run. We stop her from jumping off of the higher things like the arms of the couch or whatever but when it comes to the seating part, sometimes she will use the stairs, sometimes it is lets see how far we can jump.....

| I yell at Kaji when he does that. I promise, i don't do it on purpose. I get so scared when I see him up there. Before I know it, "Whatareyoudoing? You'renotsupposetobeupthere!! " Just comes out! It's enough to get his attention and he slinks off the back of the couch guiltily back to safety. I tend to scoop him up, check for injuries, (there aren't any, since he didn't jump) and give him a cookie for putting up with me. It's a very flawed system but it works. I need to come up with a nicer way to handle it.

| I can't tell you how much furniture I had to rearrange in order to protect my little girl from herself. I used to think her daredevil ideas were due to the fact that she grew up with kittens but after reading comments here I see that it seems to a Yorkie trait. Gracie used to like to climb up onto the back of our rocker recliner and sleep there as the cat would. Of course I was afraid that someone might sit down in the chair not realizing that she has no ability to hang on like a cat does with its claws and send her flying. My only suggestion is to move furniture in ways that will protect you little one from its daredevil tendencies. Gracie has gotten to be less of a stunt dog now that she is 5 but she still has her moments. |

| Daredevil Oh yes, I can relate! Thought we were getting a lap dog and we got a gazelle! I'm not kidding when I say she can jump from about the 5th step up on the staircase to the living room floor when she's playing. You just see a flash go by. She also loves to lay on the back of the couch so that she can look out a window by our door. The couch can't be right in front of window, so she leans WAY over to see out. Of course if someone walks by, especially with a dog, I don't know how she keeps her balance. She has slipped, but caught herself and landed before she jump tumbled off. She knows it's a No-No cause she looks at me afterwards with that look. We bought stairs for our bedroom to get on bed - she'd rather fly up and down. I am no help except to say that I understand what it's like! I'm so scared she's going to break a leg. She'd still try to fly while healing. |

| your little guy is adorable but eventually he is going to get hurt. I would do everything to keep him from getting on the couch in the first place. you will probably have to get creative, place boxes on it when not using it, if you have loose cushions set them upright. I had a friend that used to place chairs long ways on his couch, also even if you get steps there is high probably that he will use them to get up but then still jump down, that's what happened with my dog when we got them for the bed she ran up them and them jumped down.

| I'm lucky. My girl has great house/furniture manners but goes nuts once the door is open. She has jumped out of bike basket to chase lizards, birds or leaves…now leashed to basket. She jumps off boat and swims no matter conditions, depth or predator fish that may be around. Again, now leashed into boat. She will go into any body of water, chase anything if we don't see the "pounce stance" and call her back and has never backed down. We finally don't have heart attacks watching her fly up or down the stairs or when she will leap off the 6th step from bottom when going down. This may be why her front teeth are loose?? Love seeing the joy she shows when just being herself. I always have a first aid kit handy. |

| This is my 1st post because I'm dealing with the same issue! My 5 month old yorkie, Sheba, is FEARLESS! She'll jump from the back of all sofas and leap from 3 steps up the stairs. I fear she's going to end up with a broken leg or worse...anyone have any suggestions? |

| Mine was doing that too but I just kept yelling NO! When he climbed to the top. Then he would get down and now he's stopped. I also bought steps for him to climb up to the couch and since then he's been using the steps instead of jumping |

YT 2000 Club Member | dog Stairs is a great idea. I have those for my dogs to get on the couch. These little dogs are fragile and I do not want a leg broke from jumping. Yorke are fearless and they need to be taught not to jump. |

| Lola who's 7 1/2 lb can jump onto my dinner table. I think she can clear 3 feet. I swear she is the most agile little dog I've ever seen. How I discover this was by accident. One day I left 2 sausage on my dinner table. All the chair are tucked in and I ran into my room to get something before coming back to eat dinner. Poooof! I was like, who or what happen to my sausage. Coco was looking at me and then stared at Lola. I looked at Lola and she was just licking her face. I just smile and was shocked. Lesson learn not to put food on Dinner table again if i'm not there to eat it. |
