| We brought Zeusy home at 11 weeks, and he was trained by 13 weeks to pee. The poo took about a week longer, so 14 weeks totally trained. He has never had 1 accident in our home. We did not crate train. We gated him in our laundry room which has enough room for bed, food, water, and pads (with a small amount of room to move outside of those areas). He was changed to gating in the kitchen/laundry room with lots of room to move at about 15 weeks. He now has free reign of our den, kitchen, and laundry room. He used to be able to go the bedroom, but we had to take his ramps away from him due to luxating patellas and Legg-Calve-Perthes Disease. Since it is upsetting for him to not be able to get on "his" king size bed during the day, we gate him out of that room now. |

| aweitzm1, I'm totally with you. When we set up the laundry room for training, we put the pads by the door to the garage because we didn't want his bed by the door (cold drafts). Now, we have tried several times to move the pads over in the laundry room away from the door; and I'm here to tell you, it traumatizes poor Zeusy. He just sits there and looks where the pad should be and waits. I wanted to add that, although Zeusy goes inside at our house, he will go outside everywhere else, i.e my work, my mom's house. |

| We are still working on it in this house! Most times we have no problem at all, but then all of a sudden, no one can hit pads to save their lives.

| Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | I knew nothing about potty training when I got Eddie at 3 months. It took another 6 months for him to be what I'd call 100 percent -- not on pad but going outside. Never pad trained him. I pad trained Jillie, and she picked up the pad within weeks in her Xpen but she still had accidents when we let her have free rein outside of the pen. We got her at 3 months old, and she was 100 percent by the time she was 8 months old. Now she uses pad and goes outside interchangeably -- but prefers the pad when it's cold!

| All my puppies (all now passed) were gotten at 8 weeks old, at 5 months old they were 100% pad trained and no accidents, at 7 months old they were 100% house broken with no accidents and had free roam of house while I was at work.

| Emma used the pad at her breeder and did very well the first few weeks but then she started by passing the pad for carpet. So then thats when I started taking her outside and didn't give her the chance to pee in the house. Now that its cold she won't poo outside but we've worked on the peeing thing and that's slightly better since pee is the one that really messes up the floors anyway. (I know my rationale is typical of a yorkie owner)

| Wow! Ringing door bells? That's awesome. Any photos of door bell or better- videos of them ringing? So interesting. |

| When summer comes- those of you who have been using pee pad indoors, any experience or tips with transitioning Yorkies to pee outside? Husband and I both go to work so she obviously can't hold her pee for 7-8 hours long in house. I guess there will always be a pee pad indoor? |

| Mine will not use the pad at all. She is great about letting me know when she needs to go out and for those extremely rare occasions when I'm late and she's fed up with waiting, she goes right next to the pad. Fractions of an inch would make all the difference, but it wouldn't make the same statement. |

| I got my baby at 3 months and it took me about 1 1/2- 2 months to get him fully trained! He still has "accidents" though

| WE got Rin at 12 weeks old. She was "crated" in an x-pen with bed, food and potty pad. She learned to potty on the pad within two months. WE then transitioned her to gated into my daughters room with potty pad for the next six months (while we worked). Rin never has an accident in the house, although she does occassionally miss by inches. We got Tyson when he was 13 weeks old. Rin was already a year old. She basically taught Tyson where to potty. He just followed along behind her and did what she did....easy peasy....until Ernie came along at 8 weeks. Tyson and Rin were four and five years old. Ernie still hasn't gotten the hang of a potty pad. He's now TWO!!! Plus, he began marking at about 8 months. So at four, Tyson thinks he should mark as well. ![]() Oh, HE got SCARY momma and we nipped that real quick. But Ernie....well....he's just special
