I knew nothing about potty training when I got Eddie at 3 months. It took another 6 months for him to be what I'd call 100 percent -- not on pad but going outside. Never pad trained him.

I pad trained Jillie, and she picked up the pad within weeks in her Xpen but she still had accidents when we let her have free rein outside of the pen. We got her at 3 months old, and she was 100 percent by the time she was 8 months old. Now she uses pad and goes outside interchangeably -- but prefers the pad when it's cold!
