| Question about crying and Barking puppy at Night. I have a new male Yorkie pup that is 10 weeks old. He is doing so good adjusting to our home but at night sometimes he will cry and bark for what seems like an hour or longer in his crate. That's where he sleeps for now until we get him completely potty trained. We've read and seen videos it's best to ignore them when they cry and bark until they stop but it seems to last forever. What is the best way to break one of this? We have another female Yorkie but she was older when we got her and didn't have this problem so a puppy is new to us. |

| We experienced this with our puppy at 15 weeks when we brought her home. It was like having a newborn again. :-( We resolved it by placing her bed next to ours at night. Placed the pad right next to her bed in case she needed to go. She just didn't like being alone in her crate so whined and barked during the night. This worked... she sleeps through the night and no more barking/whining! Totally understand what you're going through. :-) |

| I had the same issue when Bowser first joined our family. We gave Bowser an article of clothing with our scent which seemed to ease his anxiety. I heard that a sock with microwaved/warm uncooked rice under their bed/towel provides them a sense of comfort. Good luck and just be patient. |

| Kimchi did really well considering. She only fussed about wanting to get out than from being lonely. I kept her crate next to my bed the first night and she had an old sock with her litter mate smells and a new toy that I had the breeders rub on the momma. I covered the crate except for the opening, made a small area in front of her crate for her wee pad and the inside had a plush bedding. We moved her to her playpen with the stuff almost two days after and she did well until my mother gave her free roam for a whole day while I was at work. Ever since then she couldn't stand it when we "lock" her in her pen or even when she wants to get in a room lol As long as we leave the pen open for her to come and go as she wants, she's fine >_>;; She likes her freedom lol

YT 1000 Club Member | Our puppy slept in a crate for the first few weeks we had him and then when he was house trained better he got to sleep in our bed. His crate was right next to our bed and he did not fuss because he could hear us and we could talk to him if he did wake up and seemed scared. It worked fine for us. He also slept through the night all but about 3 nights in the first several months we had him so not having to get up was nice! He sleeps through the night now, but we have a pee pad in our bedroom and he can get up and use it and come back to bed if he needs, which he does about 1-2 nights a month. Try having the puppy in the same room as you so he doesn't feel so lonely and see if that works.
