| ![]() I know you said treats that taste like meat, but I would hold off on giving extra treats, at least for now, until her pancreas gets back to normal. Uni first got Pancreatitis off a high quality freeze dried food, but it was the lamb that set it off. So she doesn't get lamb anymore. Then later, I would just do boiled chicken breast, or if you do get that dehydrator, do your own jerky. I would bet it's way cheaper and less fat than buying store bought. That is if you use the dehydrator for more than just for the dog! Keep it simple, it's not that difficult. Most of the time I give fruits/veggies for treats. They love it! Know what they go absolutely bonkers for? Korean pears! And they are in season now! The real ones are even more expensive than meat. They know what's up! Also I wouldn't give her a bone while no one is watching her. I've seen mine choke on kibble, so I would want to be gone and have one of them choke on something and I wasn't there to help. Seems like they like the "bones" better too so they try to get at it with more gusto, like they could break off a large chunk and choke on it.

| ![]() what type to you have, do you like it, if you were buying a new one would you rebuy the same one. someone said if you plan to do meat you need a high temp one. Any pointers would be helpful since I am pretty sure I will be getting one. Thanks

| ![]() I have to cook sweet potatoes every day for Cookie; so I cook extra and cut up in small chunks to use as treats.

| ![]() I might add, I tried dehydrated treats, but I didn't like the fact they are chewy and some of it looked like they would choke on it. Paranoid Suzie LOL

No I don't have a dehydrator. I've always thought they were kinda pricey for how much I would use them. Good luck on your search though.

| ![]() I give mine only fresh blueberries for treats. Probably about 8 a day at different times. Pao was at the ER for a few nights so I am careful of what to give him. He does get about 20-24 grams in total per day of boneless skinless steamed/boiled chicken breast with his meals. As Dot mentioned, Cloud Star is okay but my dog would want the whole bag at once so I just stick to fresh blueberries for now. I feed mine RC gastro low fat canned. I do give him a few pieces of the RC low fat gastro kibbles per day. Just be careful with the dry version as it is contains a lot of sodium. I know because I tried it ![]() With post pancreatitis dog, low fat, low fiber and moderate protein diet suits them the most.

| ![]() I give my girls carrots, lettuce, cabbage, pretty much raw veggie and an occasional fruits. I use a dehydrator when I want to make a fair amount of treats and to help them preserve a bit better. A dehydrator is convenient but you can actually get the same or similar results using the oven at low settings and keeping them on for long bit. Dehydrators have fans in them to speed drying process, while ovens need to be cracked open some. I still prefer a dehydrator ![]()

| ![]() I use the trick of "dropping" something from the counter tops like I dropped it while cooking. The pups don't even take the time to see what it is and gobble it down. They'll now eat carrots, green beans, lettuce etc... from doing this. Have you tried cereal like Cheerios? Have you asked your vet? Finnigan has prescription treats from Science Diet that we give. Mine also gave me a couple recipes for home made treats if you'd like.
