The only reason I think that, is, that your post was *exactly* what I was thinking... And I have a 22yr. Old at home... Lol!

YT 500 Club Member | ![]() I took Toby and Izzy to a new groomer because I felt like i was torturing my usual groomer with Toby, because he turns into Cujo when he's being groomed. We end up looking like we were mauled by a bear at the end. But I will never do that again. Because when I showed up for my babies, they were butchered. I had left specific instructions on leaving all length in their skirts, just to clean it up a bit and shorten toby's face. She had shaved all the hair on their legs. They looked like choppy little twigs. I was horrified, upset, and seething with hostility. Never again. They are just now starting to get back to looking pretty again. And I will never cheat on my groomer again. Oh and I got quite the tongue lashing from my groomer also. First for the cheating, and second for taking Toby to any groomer where I can't witness firsthand how he is handled by the groomer while he's playing Cujo. That thought hadn't occurred to me until then. Lesson learned. But yes, the hair will grow back. But mom should get a good chopping while shes asleep i think. a good crooked chop to the bangs and and a note saying how lovely you think her new cut looks should suffice. just sayin. |

| ![]() This is a very important fact that the OP has not yet clarified.

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | ![]() I think this is a difficult topic with a minor (if so) living at home or a young adult doing the same. If your parents bought this dog for you, and pay the on going food and vet bills - then I would say they have quite a vested interest in *your* dog. Now having said that; the dog is either yours or theirs - or perhaps a joint ownership. If it is yours then what was done was beyond pale - if it is a joint ownership same deal. How-ever if your parents consider this their dog - and you are kind of like a babysitter for it - then well they did what owners do make the decision for their dog. Your part in this is (I believe you posted earlier your Mom always hated the long hair). Well you never dealt with her statement it seems. Never learnt why and mayhap tried to find a middle ground through the situation. Your Mom got tired of waiting for you to deal with her statement and one day took matters into her own hands. Many parents buy dogs for their children - the wise ones know that they will have to step in if the kids do not care for the dog. But if they are baring the financial burden of a dog - they will naturally think their decisions about certain things hold prominent place.

my mom came to visit me in MI from NY when I was about 30 and I owned my own home, while I was at work she completely rearranged my living room, boy was I pissed. Recently on a trip back to NY I asked her to trim my hair, it's sort of on the longer side and straight so it's not hard to trim. LOL she cut about 6 inches off it since she thought it looked stringy, and BTW I am 59 and she is 85 ![]() ![]() Her and my sister who think I should have shorter hair thought it was very funny

| ![]() I've noticed a lot of questions about if my mom pays for any vet bills, etc.. I probably should've clarified. I don't live with my mom, I just let her watch Chloe because my mom wanted to see her that day... I didn't expect to come back to see Chloe's hair chopped off into a mess. She hasn't bought Chloe for me or paid for any vet or grooming bills at all. This is why this is so upsetting because she is MY dog and to have her in a show coat was my wish and what I like. I don't show her but I like the look. I think I'm going to have to deal with this now and get her a puppy cut because right now, a short face and floor length body hair looks strange ![]() It's also hurtful that my mom of all people would do this to me knowing that I was growing her hair and how much time and energy I spent on maintaining it. She also has not apologized yet.. and I doubt she will but I haven't spoken to her since she did this.

Thanks for clarifying that. Now don't go off the rails and cut that floor length hair. While it will take awhile for the facial hair to grow in a good groomer can even out the face. I think it is much better to deal with your Mom and start the convo with her about your gal. And btw your Mom should pay for any professional grooming to correct her mistakes. I think I would want to understand why your Mom decided to cut the facial hair - what was she thinking? And quite frankly unless it was a sound medical reason - I would very strongly state that you had no right to do this and now you will need to pay to make the chop job you did somewhat better ie a pro groomer. I would also categorically state that she is never to do this AGAIN or if she can not abide by your rules she will never have private access to your dog again.

| ![]() I agree with Gemy - if you want the long coat don't cut the floor hair now. The facial hair will grow faster than you think. I too, like the long hair, show cut look! Persevere, and let it grow! Can't give you advice on your mom ![]()

| ![]() Thanks for clarifying. I thought she gave Chloe an uneven puppy cut. Her saddle is still long so DO NOT give her a puppy cut! The face grows faster than the body.
