| How long did it take for your older yorkie to accept and LOVE his/her sibling??? We just added Mischa to our family. Her first day with us was Thursday (1/12). She is 12 weeks old and weighs 1.11lbs. Esme our first baby, is now 1 year old and weighs 9.5lbs. So far, Esme has barked, growled, snapped at and attempted to bite Mischa. I don't *think* she's trying to really hurt Mischa, maybe just trying to scare her and show her who's boss??? I am scared that she is going to hurt her by accident though. Of course I am supervising them when they are together, but I wanted to know how the adjustment process went with those of you that have more than one??? I know I have to be patient but I wanted these two to be instant companions and partners in crime (like Villettes girls!) .

| Rocky acted the same way. Took Rocky about 4 days before he started to play instead of bark or grawl at Daisy. |

| Your furbabies are precious. We recently added Ransom to our family a little over a week ago. As you, I was ready for Schatzie (9 lbs) to growl and give a warning nip to the pup. I realized that this was going to be her way of communicating to Ransom and stood by to intervene as needed. I have been blessed, after about 3 days I could see the bonding take place and so far all our babies are living in harmony. We also have a Schnauzer and no problem at all with her either. I have NOT taken this bond for granted. I still am with them constantly and do NOT let them be alone together. I feel it takes much longer than just a few days for them all to really decide their own rank with each other. I make sure that I give them all attention so nobody feels "left out".

| I have read a lot of post about this subject and I am really fortunate that all four of my babies really love each other. They just seemed to act like they thought it was great to have another friend to play with! |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I haave 9 year old pom 12 lbs who is never been a sweetheart. I got Cali in August at 9 weeks old. At first Maya hatedthe puppy.. Now 5 months later, they have their moment always over a cookie or greenie but will lay next to each other. Maya will even put up with Cali jumping all over he most times. I just always keep an eye on them. I can tell by Maya's growl if she's had enough. The other morning the pom actually came over to Cali on teh bed and laid next to her. So some dogs take longer especially older dogs.

| Mari!!!!! You did it! Wow, congrats! We're getting another one too! But it might be a couple more months until we're ready. We'll see, but my hubby and I have decided to get a little sister for Sully sometime this year!!! Mischa, you have a wonderful new family and a really wonderful older sister....despite her initial reaction, don't worry things will improve and she'll be your best friend!

Yorkie Lover Donating Member | It took Magic probably a week or two to warm up to Sailor...she would growl at her or ignore her but then realized that Sailor wasn't going anywhere and started to accept her, although Magic is defintely the boss of the two!! Don't worry, give them some time and they will soon be best friends!! Let Esme have some time to get used to the whole idea..

| 5 days for Pippa to accept Scout. Still doesn't "Love" him, but does "miss" him when he isn't around...kind of a love-hate relationship...hehe Scout has become the Alpha dog. Pippa's not real appreciative of his bossy attitude these days.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Quote:
The way I handled any strife or spats was to hold one on either side and alternate kissing and talking to them at least a few times a day... When Chanel let Cheri close to her - I praised her lots and eventually she started laying closer and closer to Cheri cause she knew mom would be kissing on her....it was a slow process. Chanel was used to having me all to herself. They are alot like kids when it comes to jealousy and I tried with what I knew may work with MY girls.... & noiw they are BEST Buddies.... All yorkies are different.....You may want to try little things to bring them in closer contact and see what works with Esme...whether it's toys or just talking to her....but just be patient....Oh... the other thing I did was never pick up Cheri without immediately picking up Chanel too....Sometimes I walked around carrying both of them.... and it really seemed to help ease the adjustment | |

| It took Muffie 12 longgggg days to come around to Missy. BUT, Muffie has been our ONLY dog for 10-1/2 years. I think she was jealous at first but now everything is fine. They play together and sleep on a big doggie pillow, too. LOL Look at the picture at the left - taken 1st day Missy was at our house. Muffie couldn't get away from her fast enough! Good luck.

| I was luckey with my two girls. Ruby and Bella are about 7 months apart. When i got Bella and introduced her to Ruby, Ruby was a little stand off ish but by the end of the day they were pretty much friends. Now they are inseparable! Just give them time. Don't force them together but eventually they'll be friends.
