From what you said about her talking with you so long to make sure you would give her baby a good home and love him like she did I bet she would be thrilled to have you come talk to her and tell her how he is doing!

I think you brought up some very good points Maximo. We just assume people are always in a good frame of mind with no reason not to want to talk with us about our Yorkies. There can be many good reasons why a person is not at their best to talk with someone about anything. They could have serious problems that are taking up all their attention in their minds or they could be feeling sick or ill. Thank you for bringing that up along with your own personal testimony to the same effect.

Yea it's only like 2 neighborhoods over which is like a 10 min drive! I also wanted to send a card on his birthday in September to thank her again! She seemed really nice but I don't remember her number so if I could get a parent to come with me I'd love to visit his parents and her! This was her final litter so it was really emotional for her

Oh yea, she would love it if you sent a card on his birthday to thank her again. Sounds like an excellent thing for the both of you especially as you said it was really emotional for her. Good deal! You might even make a new friend, who knows. Go for it!

If you know her address, or can drive by and get it, why not send a 'thinking of you/thank you for my wonderful companion' card and invite her to tea/coffee, or offer to bring your baby by so she can see him at her convenience. Make sure to put your contact information in the card. She may be as interested in a visit as you are!

In the 35 + years I have owned yorkies lucky me, I have never ran into a yorkie owner that didn't want to brag or listen to me brag about our babies.

Maybe it is the town I live in. I am from Michigan and everyone down here who meets me tells me that I am not what they expect from a person from Michigan because they said all the other people they have met from Michigan were mean.

I am one of those people that if I am having a party and you show up to drop off your child and say you can't stay because your girlfriend and her child are with you, I will invite them in even though I have never met you or your girlfriend just because you are the child's parent! I did this and the girlfriend thanked me for being so nice to her and her child without even knowing them.

I am just this super friendly person. Even if I have a migraine, I do my best to be friendly to everyone. It is just who I am.

I absolutely love to talk about my Yorkies though.

Right after I brought Teek home I saw a man walking a tiny Yorkie right up the street from our house. I ran out to meet this Yorkie and he would not even talk to me. He was so rude and picked up the dog and crossed the street.

Today a lady had a Yorkie at the mall in town and I went over to see if I could pet it, which she let me. I told her I had 3 Yorkies, to which she ignored me.

How can anyone own these wonderful babies and not want to talk about them? Not want to share them? I understand that some dogs are not friendly. I did ask if hers was friendly and she said yes and that I could pet them, but wow, she did not want to have a conversation with me about Yorkies. No wonder I like it here so much, people here actually like our Yorkies and like to talk about them to other people.

I walked my "Yorkie Parade" up our block (all 3 Yorkies) and we had to stop 3 times to talk to people who wanted to know about them. I am happy to share my Yorkies with people and let people pet them. My goal is to have super friendly Yorkies, so I like people to pet mine.

I didn't realize anyone could own a Yorkie and not want to at least talk about Yorkies.
If I would of saw your yorkie parade, we would of been still talking about our yorkies.

It took me about an hour to walk to the end of our block and back because people kept stopping me to pet the puppies and ask questions about them. They love the attention and I love to share them. One of the neighbors had a Yorkie earlier this year and their granddaughter opened the door and it darted out and was hit by a car, so they were very happy to get to see the 3 Yorkies.

Another neighbor loves my Yorkies. Some other people I don't even know asked if they could see them! It is so much fun.

I just love meeting people and sharing my babies.

If someone is walking a puppy, they might not want any contact with anyone else who owns a dog in order to avoid their puppy catching a disease for which it hasn't built up immunity yet. Or, perhaps someone has abused their dog in the past, and they just don't want to take chances.

I have a neighbor who has a little boy. One day, he and his mother were outside, and they spotted me with Bella and called me over. I brought Bella over to them, and the little boy started slapping Bella with the palm of his hand. Now, when I see them outside, I either don't take Bella out, or I cross to the other side of the street. They might think I'm rude, but I will NOT let anyone abuse Bella. Not everyone is a Yorkie lover, and not everyone who owns a Yorkie wants to take a chance with psychotic neighbors, children, or strangers.

BTW, the incident with the neighbor's child may have had a permanent effect on Bella, because now, although she is eager to approach people, once she gets close, she acts fearful and cowers. She didn't use to do that.

Last year I had, had Cody about 5 months, I was visiting a friend in another town. Cody needed to be walked so out I went with him. The sidewalks were narrow, a young man pushing a stroller with 2 little girls in it was coming towards us, I stepped into the street so he could pass us, the 2 little girls about 6 and 4 y/o saw Cody and started to fuss wanting to pet him, many of you may not know this, Cody's prev. owner was a little 11 y/o, he was gotten for her when she was 8 y/o, Cody was doted on by his little mistress, when he heard the squealing of the 2 girls he got very excited, I guess he remembered his little mistress squealing and laughter, I asked the dad if Cody could say hello to his girls, Cody was so happy and the girls were so gentle with him, the dad thanked me for allowing his girls to pet Cody, I told him his prev. owner was a little girl and Cody loves children, I thanked him for allowing his kids to say hello to Cody. Not all parents want their kids near dogs they don't know. If I am out with Cody and there are kids around, I watch the kids, if they are calm and want to pet Cody I allow it, if I see they are hyper and loud I won't let them near Cody, as an adopted dog, I don't know what Cody's reaction would be to loud hyper kids, I do knowheLOVEScalmlittle girls. My passed girls were afraid of kids and could bite them out of fear, because they were teased by 2 little boys that would squirt them with water pistols (long story) and my cousins 2 granddaughters would get so excited when I went to visit my cousin they would scream for hours in excitement over the dogs, but their screaming scared my dogs. I want Cody to be child friendly so I watch the behavior of the kids that are around him.

Truly. About a year ago, I reported an incident where my visiting sister pulled Bella's tongue to keep her from licking. (My sister is a 64 year old nurse.) Everyone told me to pull my sister's tongue to see how she likes it. I don't know why I'm surround by such mean people. That's why I'm so protective of Bella--you never know WHAT people are going to try to do to her.

Walter's mother and sister visited a month ago, and although they wanted to love on Bella, Bella barked at them and kept her distance. Walter's mother offered Bella a treat, and Bella snuck up carefully, grabbed it out of her hand, and ran away. Bella has lost trust for people. Thank goodness she still trusts Walter and me!
