| How do your babies react to thunder? Last night we had a pretty heavy storm come through around midnight. I had just fallen asleep about 30 minute before, daisy at the foot of the bed. I didn't wake up to the sound of the thunder, i woke up to my vibrating bed. She was shaking SO bad I told Joe it felt like we were in a cheap motel and someone had just put a quarter in the bed! LOL Anyway, she was SO afraid of the thunder and the heavy winds. She's been home about 2 months now and this is the first storm we've had (and weird to have a Tstorm in january at that..) but anyway..she snuggled up between Joe and I and calmed down after a short time..but wow was she scared. Anyone elses baby afraid of thunder?

| No. Neither of my yorkies have been. I used to have a chihuahua a long time ago that would rub the top of her nose raw on the carpet in an attempt to dig a hole in it to hide. It was so sad. You couldn't hold her for anything. If it was sprinkling outside, she knew it. She'd go to the door and put her little nose up to the crack and she could smell the rain, even though she couldn't hear anything. She was never scared until she was outside when a sudden thunderstorm with super loud thunder came up. After that storm, she was always scared of them.

| Kelli was just like that! She'd shake and hide at the sound of thunder. One morning, really early, we had some bad storms move through and she was all the way on the pillow by my head, shaking so bad. We haven't had storms yet with Izzy, but we DID discover yesterday she's petrified of the vacuum cleaner.

| toby couldnt care less...... he normally snuggles with me in bed anyways, but if there is a storm he really doesnt care.... i think part of it is that we live in an apartment complex (above the garages with automatic door openers... which is nice because we dont have neighbors downstairs but bad because we have the sound of cars playing loud music the doors opening ect...) and we used to have a group of people that would use fireworks ALL THE TIME when toby was a puppy, so he is used to noise and accustomed to loud stuff |

| My 'ballsy' Sheltie is the only one that is afraid. He whimpers. He's all bravado all the time, but for some reason stairs and thunder freak him out! Especially stairs that don't have backs.

| When one of my dogs was a little pup, I heard the worst and loudest crack of thunder I have ever heard in my life. Then, I heard my little pup coming up the hallway. He entered the room, looked at me, and said "Woof - Mom, did you hear that!" Then, he walked back out to the front room and took a nap. Neither of my dogs has ever been afraid of thunder. It does get their attention though --when it first starts. After that, they sleep through it. Carol Jean |

Yorkie Lover Donating Member | My girls don't usually care that much about thunder...if it gets really loud they will try and come sit with us, but for the most part they just go on like it is nothing!! Magic will sometimes bark at the doors when it is raining or thundering but other than that it doesn't seem to bother them too much!!

| Pippa had always been scared of thunder for reasons unknown to me. She shakes so bad! We used to oooh and awwww and "it's ok" and pet her and try to comfort her, then I started watching the dog whisperer who says you actually reinforce the anxious behavior by doing that. So now I just ignore her and act like everything is normal. Sometimes I turn up the tv or radio and that seems to help. She's not as bad about it now.

| Vivi doesn't seem to notice. My Goldens(rip) were terrified and would start panting and pacing before I even heard the thunder. They were more acurate than a weatherman.
