| ![]() I too thought it was an old thread being reposted. ..but just incase. But his dog is worth it. So by helping teach him how to cope and teach his dog, we hopefully help both of them. At least he came here for help. For OP you've been given good advice about never hitting him again and such. I'd also say, keep your voice calm, deep voices can come across as more dominate (in my opinion) to some dogs. When approaching your dog, never approach him head on, turn your body to the side....later when he trusts you, you can call him to you facing him. Don't lean over him, that is threatening, bend down to him. You will gain trust by walking him, being calm around him. Let him come to you, rather than go to him. Youtube has lots of videos on dog training, I used them to refresh my memory and for up to date training ideas. A trained dog makes their and your life easier. Never train when you are fed up ..frustrated...and it can be frustrating sometimes. Always end training on something the dog can do, so it ends on a positive note. Please let us know how you do. If you do have anger issues, seek help for them, because they will hurt you as well as others. Thank you for seeking help with hurting your dog. It angers me greatly, that you hurt it, but owning what you did and trying to change is admirable, as long as you follow through. What is 'popping'? A tap, a flick, a slap? None of those are okay and none of them work.

I thought it was the same poster as well because the wording was the same, which is why I took the time to find it. I notice they have not posted anything else on here since then. A lot like the original one. Next time I am not going to bite when someone else posts the same story. I will only pray that there really isn't a dog involved in all of this because that dog deserves so much better than this. I can't imagine hitting any of my babies.

| ![]() OP, if you feel the need to "pop" something, I am more than willing to let you try me. Would be cathartic for me and a lesson that might resonate with you for a while too.

We haven't been a member of YT for very long but you will soon come to realize that we are a community of caring, dog loving individuals and we are willing to help anyone who is in need. Yes, its quite possible that this person could have it in him to hit a person and it may even be possible that this is just another repeat or repost of an existing thread in order to push our buttons but there is no way of knowing that for sure. So it is worth it to continue to offer our advise in the hopes that we can help a person who is clearly in need of guidance.
