| I am on day 5 of feeding my 12 week old yorkie the 90% raw meat/10% whole foods from ANSWERS which is mainly organic dog food. I will do the chicken formula for about 3 months and then introduce beef or something else as well. I also have puppy food from Orejin but he is not so happy about it as he is about the raw food which he gulps down instantly every time. He is supposed to eat 4% of his body weight which would come out to 2 patties of 1 oz. each daily. I think that is not enough for him because he always ends up eating extra Orejin, which is always available to him, but I've noticed that he only touches it late in the evening. I give him a raw food pattie at 8 AM, the second one at 5 PM. So he eats a few orejins (like 5-6) in between and about 10 of them around 9 PM. |

| If you asked mine she'd probably say bacon. But I know better, and she gets Royal Canin.

| I have two Yorkies that get VERY sick from eating food with corn, so I do not keep any of that junk in my home. That includes Purina. Check out DogFoodAdvisor.com. It's very enlightening. You can call up a list of only their top rated foods and not have to waste time with the rest. I've seen Orijen and Wellness mentioned here, they're good. Royal Canin is average but it has corn in it so I don't trust it. But the Purina has to go. |

| Certainly, when a pup does not tolerate an ingredient in a formula, regardless of the brand, it must be avoided. My cousin homecooked for her little dog....boiled chicken and I dont know what else she added. Unfortunately, her little dog had an allergy to chicken, so "home cooking" presented very real and disturbing issues for her little dog....cant condem all home cooking and all chicken based meals as being unhealthy or toxic for all dogs...just her little dog! Same thing with corn...my dogs have been on RC for 35+ years with absolutely NO adverse reactions.....best of results, excellent vim and vigor and vitality, health wise and appearance, coats, GI tolerance, formed stools, etc..... I do know that I consult a dentist when I need dental work done in my mouth, and not a vet nutritionist.....likewise, I consult vet nutritionists for advice on the virtues and values and recommendations for dog food, rather than a dentist. | i am the proud owner of a special little girl Anna. She is actually the daughter of my brother & sister in laws yorkie. Anna was just short of 4 puts to her championship when the handler dropped her getting her out of a crate. Poor girl broke all the bones in her foot. It has been close to a yr & she cannot be shown cause she has a slight limp. Anyway I take her in my pool with her little vest & she does a swim workout to help make her foot stronger. She seems to really like it. She is only 5 lbs & such a sweet girl. |
