| ![]() The reason I was asking is because like I said I got lady from what I guess is a backyard breeder but a good one if there is such a thing. She had an accidental liter and then had so many people asking for another puppy she ended up having one more. Not that I agree with that but I just so happened to shoot her a text the other day and asked if she was ever going to have any more puppies and just so happens she had one available now. Lady turns 1 today and I really wanted another puppy from the same line as lady but I knew she gets rid of the puppies at 7 weeks. I did it with lady and she was very well adjusted and didn't have to deal with any of these other issues I hear of. I kind of feel like I know the puppies will go to someone at 7 weeks so it makes since for me to take one because I know I will take proper care of it. So I just wanted others experiences ![]() |

| ![]() Can't you ask for one but have her hold the puppy till its older? A few more weeks shouldn't be such a big deal, in the scheme of things if its giving the puppy a better start. But, the way you described it, you are probably right..you do at least know what to do and what to look for, so a puppy would be in loving care...but, I would still try to get her to keep your puppy a bit longer....that would be the best for all of you. |

| ![]() I got Abigail when she was 8 weeks old. She is just over two years old now. We haven't had any problems and the vet says she's in perfect health. |

| ![]() Our breeder sold us our little guy at 8 weeks old. He had gone to the vet, had all the necessary shots/deworming and wasn't showing any signs of hypoglycemia. At the time, we didn't know better. When we get another one, I'd probably feel better about waiting a few extra weeks, but we've been lucky with Huey - no health problems to speak of. He will turn 2 later this month. |

| ![]() Yes but a puppy who is leaving there mom before 12 weeks is not coming from a good breeder so issues would be common whether they are when there pups or a older. What your seeing is not rare. Breeders letting the pups go before 12 weeks are either uneducated or doing it because it would cost them more money. Those are not the kind of breeders you want to buy from.

| ![]() It's not about whether they are still getting fed by the mother or not.

| ![]() He did, yes, two years ago. He got out of the house and was hit by a car; it was inevitable. He would've been four this month.

YorkieTalk Newbie! | ![]() I got my yorkie at 8 weeks. She was 1.5 pounds, I've had her less than a month now and she is very sick, enlarged heart and possible liver shunt. Taking her to a specialist next week. She does not eat, I have to force feed her every 2 hours. We also got a male he was 12 weeks when we got him, he is thriving!! He is very playful, bites on the doors some but other than that he is doing great. |
