| Looking for a Yorkie puppy Well I couldn't be more heart broken and frustrated I have been searching every where online for a yorkie puppy that was not too expensive and was legit. Obviously like you all yorkshire terriers are my favorite. My husband is very protective and wont let me get scammed, which is good he cares. So I have to find one near Marysville, CA but its been nothing but trouble. Its like you cant trust anyone. If anyone is selling or know a seller could you please let me know? i have been yorkie-less for a long time after the loss of my precious baby who had a kidney failure. This is not a replacement. Buttercup is my baby and always will be. She'd want her mommy to be happy and I am ready for a new baby and promise nothing but love. |

| I rescued my lil girl. I wasn't really even looking for a puppy at the time, but I had lost my lil love and was heartbroken. Anyway, I found out about Sunni. I got her for free actually, but she did require some expensive medical treatments. I love her so much, that knowing I will be losing my last lil Shih Tzu in the near future, I started to look specifically for Yorkie rescues. Matese (friend from this site) told someone else (I think in CA) to try Yorkie Rescue 911, and just for the heck of it, I tried that but for NJ, lol. Well, I am thru the preliminary adoption process and approved. Just have to have the home visit. I will be able to choose a dog when I am ready. I dont want another new dog while my Harry is going thru this stage of life. I do know that I will want to have a playmate for Sunni. The adoption fee from the organization I am working with is $500. - $650. depending on the age of the dog. They are completely vaccinated, totally vet checked, micro chipped, even dental has been done if necessary. They even have some special needs dogs that may be blind or deaf or otherwise disabled, and they will cost less. The fees aren't really that high, when you think of the fact that they do use money they get for the more "desirable" Yorkies, young, tiny females, for the less likely to be adopted. Senior or disabled. I do hope you consider exploring possibly rescuing further, it seems like the cost may be just about right. They do get puppies but you may need to wait a little bit. Good luck! |

I also agree to look into rescues in your area. That payment plan rescue sounds off. I've never heard of that before. My rescue that I volunteer for would need the adoption fee upfront. If you can't afford the fee, how can you afford vet care if something were to come up? I mean all the dogs are vetted and healthy before they are placed, but what about an accident such as broken leg, or diarrhea/tummy upset, etc. While you won't get a puppy for that price, we have had dogs placed that were young and small. I fostered one in particular that was barely 2 years old and very small, about 4 lbs. Her fee was $550 if I remember correctly. Still looked very much puppyish. Another pro for getting a rescue is that most foster homes do amazing jobs with socializing and training the dogs. So often times you will get a pretrained dog.

| Your not going to find a reputable breeder selling that low and buying from a bad breeder will just leave you with a broken heart again.

| You're right wigglewomym, esp in CA, you'd be hard pressed to find a byb and/or bad breeder selling for less than $700.

Otherwise, there are LOTS in rescue if you are willing to adopt one older than a few years old. Rescues are not all sickly, old, ugly, or untrained. I've had many fosters that were young, cute, small, smart, and healthy. Sometimes people who love and take good care of their dogs get in a bad situation, esp in this economy. Better to rescue one than buy a puppy (and end up enabling a bad breeder) who shouldn't have been bred in the first place. If you do buy a pup, make sure the breeder is bettering the breed, not just breeding bc they wanted their dog to have pups, bc their dog is too cute, or just for money.

| Do breeders ever place retired adults for that price? (I'm meaning reputable breeders). I got my start in showing dogs years ago by adopting a finished champion and learning to show/train on him. The breeder co-owned him with me and I didn't have to pay full price. I thought it a perfect situation, he was already OB, house and ring trained. I just loved him and learned how to groom and show. Maybe something like that could be an option? |

| I got my Annie from a rescue post on the website "Adopt a Pet". She was 4 1/2 months old. You can put in the area and breed you are looking for and sign up for notifications by email if something comes available. The rescue organizations and foster homes use this website to post their dogs with pictures. I had to pay $350 for her vet checks and shots and agree to spay her when she was big enough. It took me 6 months of looking but I couldn't be happier. I love her to death! She's in great health and is now spoiled rotten! Good luck! |
