I agree you won't find a puppy for that price. You MAY be able to find a backyard breeder (which is highly NOT recommended) that will sell for $700+ but you won't know what genetic conditions your pup will get since BYBs never do any testing. Most often than not they aren't fit to the standard either.

I also agree to look into rescues in your area. That payment plan rescue sounds off. I've never heard of that before. My rescue that I volunteer for would need the adoption fee upfront. If you can't afford the fee, how can you afford vet care if something were to come up? I mean all the dogs are vetted and healthy before they are placed, but what about an accident such as broken leg, or diarrhea/tummy upset, etc.

While you won't get a puppy for that price, we have had dogs placed that were young and small. I fostered one in particular that was barely 2 years old and very small, about 4 lbs. Her fee was $550 if I remember correctly. Still looked very much puppyish.

Another pro for getting a rescue is that most foster homes do amazing jobs with socializing and training the dogs. So often times you will get a pretrained dog.
