IMO a byb is one in the same with a scam. There are lots of ways to get a yorkie pup in So Cal. I should know, I got one from a broker. I was EXTREMELY lucky that she doesn't have major health issues other than her LP and sparse hair. But if you want a yorkie worth the price from a reputable breeder, you need to talk to many breeders and be prepared to be on a wait list.

Otherwise, there are LOTS in rescue if you are willing to adopt one older than a few years old. Rescues are not all sickly, old, ugly, or untrained. I've had many fosters that were young, cute, small, smart, and healthy. Sometimes people who love and take good care of their dogs get in a bad situation, esp in this economy. Better to rescue one than buy a puppy (and end up enabling a bad breeder) who shouldn't have been bred in the first place. If you do buy a pup, make sure the breeder is bettering the breed, not just breeding bc they wanted their dog to have pups, bc their dog is too cute, or just for money.
