| Microchip I'm just curious if anyone had this happen before. I took mitsy to get microchipped today while I was walking out I realized she was bleeding heavily! I had blood pouring down my arm while I was carrying her. Naturally I panicked and rushed back in. The tech told me it's normal and common! I looked at her extremely upset! Ive had taken other dogs to get chipped before but never has this happened!! Is this really normal?!

YT 1000 Club Member | The same thing happened when I had my English Setter chipped. We were walking (she was on a harness) about 30 minutes after it was put in and she started bleeding. She was white, so there was blood everywhere. I took her back to the vet and they looked at it and made sure the chip was still in (scanned her) and sent her back home. It happened about an hour later, but not quite as much bleeding and we were at home, so I was able to put a wash cloth and a little pressure on it since we weren't 3 blocks from home this time. After that it was fine though.

YT 1000 Club Member | This is the reason that Teek is not microchipped yet. I worried he will start bleeding and scare me to death. Both new puppies are getting chipped when they get fixed. I keep wanting to get Teek chipped, but I am so afraid he will do this as my other dog did it as well. It was so scary although the vet didn't seem to concerned, they just made sure the chip didn't come out and sent us back home.

| I have never seen this nor had it happen to me when I chipped any of my puppies!! Obviously, I would surmise a vessel was hit or perhaps the chip was deeper than sub-Q. |

| I'm glad to say my girl was chipped, with a syringe i ordered from AKC, when she was fixed and I kept her activity to a minimum as much as I could and didn't have bleeding issues and still don't. This is the first time I heard of this issue O.o;; I most likely wouldn't try to walk/harness them within the first few days or so after chipping just in case, anyways.

YT 1000 Club Member | I've never heard of bleeding when inserting microchips . I've only had 2 dogs microchipped(the older ones I currently have) and although Rasta yelped, there was no bleeding. The needle they use to insert is rather big, so maybe a blood vessel was nipped? Laveau is due for hers soon, hopefully that won't happen. |

| I didn't think it was normal...not to scare you guys but this is how much she bled...and that's just what leaked onto my arm...her coat was soaked! This all happened less than 30 seconds after she got chipped while walking out the door...I almost had a heart attack! I think they must have struck a vein or something..she's fine now thank god!

| Okay... if that happened to me, I'd totally freak out. I'd be yelling at the top of my lungs and go into psycho mode. |

| Both my puppies were microchipped when I received them so I don't have any experience with it. But Pet Supplies Plus is having free microchipping over the next month several times and I was planning on taking my older dachshund to be microchipped as she never was. After reading this thread, I am having second thoughts on getting her microchipped. She is a 13 year old dog and I wonder if it is any harder to microchip them when they are older? Would they have any more problems?

Sorry to hear about your baby. I'm thinking I'd have the same reaction. Bailey go m-chiped a couple of years ago, and no problems. First I've heard of this. Having said that, this is the only forum I belong to. | |

| That's almost how I was like..I rushed back in and started yelling and almost crying...the lady looked at me like it's normal and just sprayed some hydrogen peroxide and wiped it off. Everyone else in the waiting room looked shocked. Needless to say I gave them a nasty review on yelp..

YT 1000 Club Member | I really want to have Teek Microchipped and could have it done this weekend, but I fear this happening so I am not sure I will actually have it done. The puppies will each be microchipped when they are fixed. My big dog was microchipped when I got him. I am still debating about having Teek done. I know I do not want to be the one holding him when they do it.

| emma was chipped while getting spayed. No bleeding but I would imagine that it's possible to bleed. Glad the vet thought it to be normal and all was well.
