| ![]() My vet told me this could happen and also told me that chipping would hurt. So, I guess I have the benefit of being forearmed re: expectations. However, the benefits of chipping far outweigh any temporary discomfort (mentally, emotionally, physically), so I will absolutely get Teddy chipped despite the possibility of blood etc. That doesn't mean I won't faint, though! |

YT 1000 Club Member | ![]() I can have Teek chipped on Saturday for $15 at a mobile vet at Pet Sense. I would take him to his normal vet but I am not about to pay $60 to have him chipped when my last dog cost $20 at the vet's office for the same procedure. I meant to have it done last month at the mobile vet, but I did a 5K that day and came home and fell asleep and missed the time they were there. I worry about the bleeding part though as I hate to see anything happen to my little guy, but I would seriously hate to lose him even more than that. Chipping is so good because it does increase your chances of getting them back if they are lost. It also can prove ownership if you think someone has your dog and the police can have animal control check for a chip and see if it is your dog. With as many Yorkies are stolen I do worry about that, of course Teek is never away from me so good luck to anyone who tries to steal him. They would probably bring him back because he misses me so much. LOL

| ![]() I had Lola done two weeks ago at a mobile clinic at Pet Supplies Plus, there was no bleeding at all. What surprised me though was they told me not to put a harness on her for 4 days since it could cause rubbing and the chip would come out. Since she goes potty outside strapped to a harness this was hard, I used her collar and would carry her out and not let her pull. I also used the harness a few times, this Saturday I plan to go back to make sure the chip is still there. The did say the needle was sort of large and that is why the chip could come out, for any of you guys that had a lot of bleeding I would make sure to have your dog scanned to insure the chip is still in place.

YT 1000 Club Member | ![]() I was not told not to walk my setter with a harness after it was done, that is probably why it bled. The first thing they did was check to make sure the chip was still in. That will make it difficult to walk Teek when I use a harness with him. I do think I will have it done this Saturday though, it worries me that he is not chipped. As for the person with the 13 year old, I am not sure I would have it done at that age to be honest. I would definitely ask the vet. I called Teek's vet and they want $60 to chip him and I told them I would go somewhere else as that is just too much when I can get it done for $15 at the mobile vet at Pet Sense. I am having the puppies done when they are fixed so they won't feel it. They will be on limited mobility for several days anyway and hopefully using pee pads so not using a harness will be good.

Yeah, that was a good idea. They are aware of Teddy's anxiety issues and said that they could take him upstairs and do it outside of my presence because, sometimes, owners being there during this kinda thing exacerbate nerves. True enough, I guess, I have heard this said by groomers, too.. They said, if they take him upstairs, I will more than likely hear him scream but he'll be okay... I want to swear so much in fear but have to remain appropriate on this site..LOL Just know, though, the F-bomb keeps running through my head and that is FAINT and the other word... In danger of losing my ladylike composure, here... | |

YT 1000 Club Member | ![]() I am getting Teek done tomorrow, so I will let you know how he does with it. I think it will be like getting ears pierced, a moment of pain and then nothing. My setter really didn't hardly notice it being done, but she was 30 lbs, not 7. I will let you know how it goes though and if Teek doesn't hardly notice it at all then maybe Teddy will be just fine. Don't worry.

YT 1000 Club Member | ![]() Teek is now microchipped! I had it done a bit ago. He was not happy about it, but didn't cry or anything. I don't think it was any worse than getting a vaccination. He bled about 8 drops of blood, they had me put a paper towel over it so I could see how much blood was there and it was very little. I was told to put pressure on it and they scanned him to make sure it was in good and we went home and no issues.
