| Grooming Suggestions I have a 5 month old yorkie, named Joey. He is not a fan of being brushed. I have several types of brushes and combs. I took him 6 weeks to the groomer so he gets used to that too, he goes again monday. I have a wire brush, lil pal comb, have used a soft tooth brush on his face since we got him in hope he would get used to his face being gently brushed etc.... Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am new to Yorkies! I have a 3 1/2 year old Collie so I am used to a dog with a lot of hair. When will his full coat come in the colors they will be when he is full grown? I can see some silver coming growing in on his head. Thanks Yorkie Lovers |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | It will take him time to get better at grooming...keep doing it 2-3x per week and he will get better at it...and so will you too. The colors could keep changing for a long time yet, it's pretty fascinating to watch.

| With Bella who is just over 2 years old, I got her used to being groomed every morning . I have one place that I groom her and thats the top of the washer, ( I have a main floor laundry room ) all her stuff is there I give her a small treat when we start and one when we finish. The whole session is only about 10 or maybe 15 min if we have to do a bum wash. Other then the treats its just like having a child. They will get used to it and except it as part of there life. |

| Is your dog named Wylie? I have an 11 year old son named, Wylie. Spelled the same and everything. He got a good laugh when I showed him the picture of your yorkie named, Wylie. Thanks for the response. |

| Not sure about anyone else but Magnus still seems to change colors. His back was black but saw a little brown coming out and now it's more visible. Have you tried Madan pin brush? Both Magnus/Zoey STILL doesn't like getting groomed in general but they seem to enjoy it when I use the Madan brush. I have one for myself. It really feels good. LOL You can get them at toplinepet.com the owner is a member here (Mimimomo) and I think she offers discount for YT members. |

| I trained Teddy with the command 'be pretty'. So, he sits nice and waits to be combed. When there is a tangle, he waits for a treat instead of biting the comb like he used to because I have trained him by treating him for good behavior. I had to be extremely patient, though. He used to hate the comb and the brush and bite both of them no matter the body part! He is still fidgety about his face but he is a lot more still than he used to be, doesn't bite the comb anymore and just waits for a treat once his mustache has been groomed. It took about six months for us to get to this point. I had to ensure that I combed or brushed him at least once every other day. Now, he loves 'be pretty' time! |

| This might be an odd suggestion, but if your furbaby has decently shorter hair I actually use the brush/comb made for human babies. My Kimchi tolerates the one for pets but I can tell she doesn't like it as it feel a bit rough (at least the more plushy bristley part, the wire, wide bristle side she doesn't mind). I use the human baby brush and she loves it cause it's so soft. It's not best on harder tangles and I'll alternate with the baby comb using short, slow, gentle strokes. Cause I keep her hair fairly short and it's very soft, using these works pretty good. ^^ I actually managed to video her during one of our brushing sessions awhile back using the baby brush that I'll probably post later on.

| Just keep working on the grooming and give treats for good behavior. As for changing colors, I have watched three Yorkies grow up....Tyson is five and I swear his hair color is still changing...I'm starting to see some red tones! And I just wanted to say about Ann's (Wylies Mom) avatar....I don't know which of her dogs that is, but I think it's probably the cutest Yorkie face I've ever seen
