I trained Teddy with the command 'be pretty'. So, he sits nice and waits to be combed. When there is a tangle, he waits for a treat instead of biting the comb like he used to because I have trained him by treating him for good behavior. I had to be extremely patient, though. He used to hate the comb and the brush and bite both of them no matter the body part! He is still fidgety about his face but he is a lot more still than he used to be, doesn't bite the comb anymore and just waits for a treat once his mustache has been groomed. It took about six months for us to get to this point. I had to ensure that I combed or brushed him at least once every other day. Now, he loves 'be pretty' time! |
