| Most groomers will require shots, but I use a mobile groomer who doesn't ask.

FYI: make sure you are keeping the little label off the vaccination bottle so you have proof of what you gave and when you gave it! Last edited by Yorkiemom1; 02-20-2015 at 04:05 PM.

| Unless you are a vet or vet tech I would not give the shots myself. Also it's good for them to get checked out by the vet before any vaccines. I'm not sure what nexguard has to do with shots or why that would make the vet bring up shots. Puppies and dogs need regular vet check ups, blood work, and fecal check yearly.

| Are you a breeder? Do you know how to give the vaccinations? Do you know how to give a sub-q injection? I have always given the vaccinations on the puppies I sell....Each puppy has it's own health record. I affix each label along with the date it was given, plus all the wormings I do, plus all the well baby checks the babies see the vet for. No new owner has ever reported back to me that their vet did not accept the health record they received from me. This has never been an issue....if you know about vaccinations and keep the med at required temp in your fridge, and you know how to give injections, there is no reason not to. |

True! I did not see where the age of the pup was given in the OP's post. Everything you said is true Taylor.....and about the vaccinations, you MUST affix the label from the vaccine to the health recodr to make it legit! Just writing down a date and saying that is when you gave the shot, does not count and would NOT be acceptable!

YT 1000 Club Member | I encountered this problem when I went to our on post vet for Rasta to have his checkup. They wouldn't accept the breeder's administered shots and wanted to start the vaccination protocol all over again. Although it would have been cheaper and more convenient for him to go to the vet on post I found several other vets that didn't have a problem with the breeder's shots. |

| This issue can be addressed easily by running a titer test on the pup in question. There are two tests available for in house testing, the Titerchek and the Vaccicheck. It only takes about 15-30 minutes to get the results and it's supposed to cost between $40-$60 dollars. If it shows a positive titer the pup was successfully vaccinated, problem solved. This saves the pup from being unnecessary vaccinated. I don't know why the vet didn't suggest this.

| yes i guess they want you coming back every month so they can make their money. I was planning on going back once a year for checkup i have had other dogs and did the vaccinations myself. Them dogs lived to be about 17 years old. I called to find out when we can start harley on nexgard they told me it was up to their discretion think i am gonna have to find another vet with that kind of attitude. |

| Personally I would never go to a groomer that didn't at least require proof of rabies vaccine.
