| Welcome to YT! Being born in september, your pup is over three months of age. I would not be giving sugar water or honey water, just for the heck of it. Sugar, honey, karo syrup, golden syrup, nutrical serve a purpose when hypoglycemic event occurs. It should not be given routinely. That's like me popping a tylenol daily because I might get a headache.

| Look at the ingredients it's more complex then just sugar water. I never said the puppy was like a diabetic I just said I know about sugar crashing and going high and then low. Your vet said nutrical was ok not sugar water so it would be false to say your vet said sugar water is ok because sugar water and nutrical are different.

| FYI: What is Nutri-Cal? Nutri-Cal is a high-calorie palatable dietary supplement used for stressed or debilitated pets, pets suffering from illness, surgery or whelping, aging pets or picky eaters, who need increased caloric and nutritional intake. Benefits: • Added nutrition for dogs and cats • Provides extra energy for active dogs • Good for picky eaters - good taste and can place the recommended amount of gel on your finger, on your pet’s paw, or can mix with food • Can be given to pregnant or ill pets How it works: The Nutri-Cal formula contains vitamin A, D & E, Phosphorus, Thiamine, Calcium, Manganese, Iodine, Potassium, Iron, Folic Acid, Riboflavin and other essential ingredients, and provides an additional 338 calories per feeding. Active Ingredient(s): (per 6 gm teaspoon) Vitamin E (5 IU), Vitamin B1 (1.7mg), Vitamin B2 (0.2 mg), Vitamin B6 ( 0.8 mg), Vitamin B12 (1.9 mcg), Folic Acid (0.2 mg), Niacin (1.9 mg), d-Pantothenic Acid (0.9 mg). Also contains Linoleic Acid, Linolenic Acid, EPA, DHA, Omega-6 and Omega-3 Fatty Acids. (Just a little better than "sugar water, ya think??) What is this product used for: Nutri-Cal is a high calorie palatable dietary supplement used to provide supplemental caloric and nutritional intake in dogs and cats. It is also used to provide an added source of energy in hunting and working dogs. Calorie content is 338 Cal/100g (20 Cal/6g) If I had to choose over "sugar water" or honey, maple syrup. Karo syrup, hummingbird feeding solution (yes, I had someone tell me all about THAT!!!), I would really strongly suggest NutraCal, NutraStat, or my personal absolute favorite, Dr.Miller's Pet Nutra Drops. | I want to add, it isnt like this stuff will require you to float a loan in order to purchase a tube! It is a really wonderful thing for your baby, not only for the boost of sugar, but for the vitamins and additional calories it provides! |

| So on breeders letter she sent home it says not to give dog food with corn in it - on this royal canin food I have been looking at that everyone is suggesting - the third or fourth ingredient is corn gluten meal - is that the same as corn ? |

| Yes but the only reason you would want to avoid the corn is with some dogs it causes itchiness Alot of dogs dont have that problem and do just fine on the royal canin food or other foods with corn as an ingredient
