| "The same dilution gene that causes a black dog to become blue also causes a liver dog to become isabella (aka lilac), which is a pale greyish brown. Dilution and liver are both recessive and relatively rare, so isabella is a rarely seen colour. It is, however, the colour of the Weimaraner, and also occurs occasionally in a handful of other breeds. An isabella dog will have the genotype bbdd (homozygous for liver, homozygous for dilution)." I have never seen this color on AKC papers for a Yorkie.....you may have an interesting time trying to get this yorkie registered.....but then I have never had a lilac colored Yorkie! |

| Isabella, from what I understand, is a color pattern (am not a geneticist - once had a beautiful!!! Weimaraner with that pattern) Did not know it could be found in Yorkies. Enjoy your new fur-butt!!! |

| How many breeders are really doing that. My guess is this is a yorkie but I am more of an optimist than a pessimist

| Well first of all what an awesome Christmas present!!!! Congratulations! I have my first yorkie....and they are addictive! Their little personalities win your heart very quickly! I know you are probably overwhelmed because you are getting tons of wonderful information! While food is a massively contraversial issue (breeders as well) the main concern is that now you have your pup you give her the best care you can :-) I found with Winnie and her food that unfortunately she has a sensitive tummy....and went through many of the "high quality" foods before we found one that she can tolerate..and would actually eat....so in the end it's what they WILL eat and tolerate. I agree with the many who have said that there is a transitional period where they seem to not eat....I wouldn't change his food just yet. Just keep trying and use the advice of moisten it with chicken broth or even warm water. An addition I have to advice given already....be sure to get an area set up for your pup like an ex pen where if u are not able to have eyes on him he can be in and be safe....or crate him when. They will eat just about anything....and are so small that they can get sick very quickly. Be sure to get your new baby into the vet for a general check and get the relationship established....and be sure to have an emergency vet on hand. Always better to be prepared! Can't wait to see photos! Not sure if this is much help but in my phone when I have the picture open I can go into edit and resize the photo....again....CONGRATULATIONS! |

| Hi, congratulations, and welcome! I hope all goes well with your new little one. You can make adjustments as you need to...he is still a baby and this is a major adjustment for you and him. He will get you trained to serve him, and you will have so much fun...Yorkies are wonderful!

| Hi and welcome to Yorkie Talk. Remy was a very picky eater when I got him. I got him when he was 4 mths old and he was the runt of the litter. What I went through was unbelievable because he did not like any canned food I bought. I tried at least 10 different good ones and he had no interest. However, he did eat his Fromm Puppy Gold kibbles. I always had Nutical handy and gave it to him when I felt he didn't eat enough for the day. I also gave him some cheerios. I must say that by the time he was 8 or 9 mths old his eating got better. He still doesn't have any interest in canned foods but still eats his kibbles (I have him now on Fromm Pork & Peas because he is over a year old). I found that he loves Stella & Chewy's freeze dried beef patties too so I give that to him at least 3 x a week for one of his meals. He also like carrots, squash, zucchini, etc. I will only give him vegetables, fish and fruits that are safe for him. Hopefully your little one will get better as he gets older. Best of luck and read all the threads you can read on yorkie talk because you will learn a lot about this wonderful breed.

| 2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | Hello, welcome to Yorkie Talk (YT) . . and Congratulations on your newest addition!! There seems to be a ton of great advise being given and still there is so much to learn about your new Yorkie pup and this is a great place to do it. As for as the eating and drinking issues it is normal for pups to be a bit finicky upon arriving at their new homes which is out of the norm for them so it will take some time. Once he gets use to his new home and family he will dive right into his food bowl. As far as the honey water I would say that he can do without. I would encourage him to drink pure water but if you feel that he is not getting enough add a touch of honey to a larger bowl. But in my opinion that whole 2 to 1 tsps. seems a bit much. I would suggest a tsp. to a cup of water. Also, at his age he should be eating dry kibble by now but again that whole new home and surroundings thing takes effect and if you need to feed him moistened kibble every feeding in order to get him to eat that of course do it. If he isn't eating dry at all than I would suggest mixing it and feeding him 3-4 small meals per day. What he doesn't eat than take up. This will help when it comes to potty training .... pups his age normally go within minutes of eating or drinking anything. So once he is done eating that's when you will want to take him our to potty. Stick around there is so much more to learn !!!
