| ![]() Little Mia is so adorable and also very blessed that you were willing to take her in and care for her and love her. Looking forward to watching her grow! Welcome to YT! We would also like to see little Prince on here too! Shame on someone but your little darling is probably way better off than she would have been!! I feel for her mom and hope that someone is taking care of her and also the other siblings.

| ![]() Ok so now the annoying part begins. Mia pooped and peed in her crate. On two separate occasions. I have been putting her on the pee pee pad every time she wakes up or I take her out of the crate. Last night I can understand why she pooped I was taking a shower and could hear her crying out. Couldn't do anything about that. But this morning I woke up to her having peed in the crate. I am a extremely clean person and this annoys me. Specially because there is only room for her to lay comfortably and stand up turn around. She's not supposed to pee in there. What do I do now? |

| ![]() Thank you all for the support mia is doing well at night sleeping til about 330 and then going back to bed. She's a very good dog. Very happy to have her. Thank you for all the suggestions that got us thru the first week of this craziness. Mia is a yorkie mix. Don't know what else she is mixed with. The pictures the people where showing was of 2 teacup yorkies. But that is definitely not true. We will see how she turns out. She has become very fiesty. Bitting and growling. But I will get that under control for sure. Thank you again and any suggestion would be great. I have my hands full with a 2 year old who is turning 3 in a month. 6 college classes, my own business. And all the other things we all deal with like holidays etc. So thank you! |

Most little pups aren't really ready to be properly house-trained at this age... I expect most of us are clean people - but unfortunately our littlies don't know that - they just do what they've got to do, when they want to do it. I truly believe, pre-12 weeks at least, it's all a bit hit-and-miss potty training related - we wouldn't expect it of skin-kids - and I just think you need lots of patience and time ![]()

I know the pee grosses you out, but also remember that urine is actually sterile, so it's really just a sterile fluid that comes from the body -- it's really not that unclean, in other words. Not to imply I want some sterile urine everywhere, lol, but I'm saying this just to ease your mind a bit in terms of the cleanliness. We have some great potty training threads in our General Training section, so I'd definitely recommend you read the potty training sticky threads: General Training Questions - YorkieTalk.com Forums - Yorkshire Terrier Community

| ![]() At 4-5 weeks of age, momma dog is still cleaning up after her babies....she is licking up after pee pee, and she is eating poo...and then licking and cleaning the baby's bottoms. Most dams, like you, are also very clean and do not like a mess in their living space/bed. You are "momma" now to this baby that is completely dependent on you.... In addition to all your other responsibilities, and it can be very hectic with all the additional tasks demanded by a tiny puppy, YOU are "momma" to that puppy also! It is a wonderful thing you have done, assuming all the additional chores that come with a puppy that, at the age your baby is, could almost be considered orphaned. I will suggest a book that I always recommend to all my new owners.....if you have the time to read it! "Yorkies for Dummies", available on Amazon.com. This book will cover just about everything you will need to know about this baby! "Patience" is the keyword you need to hold onto now! Last edited by Yorkiemom1; 11-23-2014 at 08:23 AM. |

| ![]() You have a beautiful baby! My baby was rescued from an orphaned situation at 1week. I have had him since week 4, he is 9 weeks now. Here's what I know so far. Pups without moms at this age NEED touch and comfort. What is a great demand now will result in a wonderful bond between you. I love my little guy! Keep introducing the kennel as a safe, comfortable place--never a punishment. And be patient w her. She is so tiny! Be prepared for the challenges ahead, too. I nearly lost SEVEN to hypoglycemic seizures. Now that I am aware, the booger is giving me fits w feedings. The challenges keep coming! Hang in there! |

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | ![]() I would not worry about the pee in the crate for right now. When I got my large breed dog at 7wks and about 20lbs, I slept with her in our garden room. I got up 2 or 3 times a night for 2 weeks to bring her outside to potty, and she needed that. Now imagine a 5wk old puppy at under 1lb and the size of their bladder. If I had to let my young 20lb puppy out at 7wks old several times a night, it is obvious that a very very young small breed puppy would need at least the same. If your pup pees in her crate at this young age, the fault is most likely yours, not hers! That means you were not on top of things, bringing her outside or onto the peepads regular enough. So what do you do? Bring her outside every two hours, of after she wakes, eats, or plays. Or onto her peepad. And well then, if an accident happens so be it at 5 or 6 wks old way way way too young to expect housebreaking perfection. Most folks who own dogs n young children are ready and willing to put up with a less than perfectly clean home, and a bit of a mess from time to time. I know I have had to adjust my *need* to have a spotless home. We now live in a comfortably clean home.

| ![]() I saved our lil guy from a not so good person as well....but he was 3 1/2 weeks old....she told me he was 10 weeks. My first advice would be to get him to a vet asap...that's what I did. Then we bottle feed him the milk supplement w goats milk every 3-4 hours as well as mixing royal canine puppy mousse caned food in w his milk supplement. I also put him on a liquid vitamin and gave him that everyday. He wasn't even a pound when I got him...he didn't have any teeth and could barely walk straight. I kept that routine up til he was 6 weeks then took him off the milk. And gave him the mousse mixed w the puppy royal canine til. Just this week when he now has teeth. He's done great and is a happy lil guy and runs around like the energizer bunny. Hope that helps good luck |
