Just 20 cents a day for your precious little furbaby--a forever friend, a loving companion...a small price to pay.

The reason why $500 is so low for a puppy is because most reputable breeders charge $1000-1200. Why? Because of the cost of the parents, the food, the shots, the vet visits, the training, the grooming, the puppy pads, the cost of the crates, X-pens, not to mention all of the work that goes with it. If she charges $500 for a puppy, that's exceedingly cheap, considering that she would be losing thousands per puppy....

I don't understand what you mean by "registered by state".
Also, AKC registration doesn't always mean everything--puppy mills, BYBs, it's all easy for them to get AKC registration.

Just because you pay $800 doesn't mean that you will get a sick puppy. People sell sick puppies all the time, from $200, to $500, to $800, to $1200, to $5000. You just have to do your research and make sure to spot all the red flags.

OP I think your going to be fine, she is NOT a puppymill. There are other people with name Marler that are, but it is NOT Vickey Marler.

Thank you so much, lynzy!! Vickey is a wonderful lady. She is very kind and loves all of her pups very much! I'm not sure how my post went from preparation tips to whether or not Zoe's breeder was a bad one or not.. lol. She would never let a pup go if she didn't think they were ready. And I am unsure of Zoe's age, she probably isn't only 6 weeks. I was estimating based on her size, so I take blame for that! And yes I was concerned because of not hearing anything about picking her up, but Vickey has been very busy.

I am here to explain Vickey! She has Yorkies from me and I actually helped her get started.
She uses mini.. only because she thought the name sounded cute with her Marler name.. Marler's Mini's. Nothing to promote size, or more money, especially since she is so reasonable. To her.. they are a small dog in general.. mini..
Vickey is honest, and does a very good job with her Yorkies. this is a hobby for her. I trust her 100%!
Her puppies and adults want for nothing! She is good for her word, and will back up her guarantee (which is the same as mine, I let her use it). She sells only in Missouri, or driving distance. I have left it up to her what she charges as that is a personal thing.
She vaccinates, worms, microchips, and runs to the Vet without even thinking about it. We talk regularly and I know she doesn't let them go to homes until they are 12 weeks old.
I called her and asked her about your Zoe. Your pup is 8 weeks, your Mom's pup is 10 weeks. They can go to your homes at 12 weeks old. She does take deposits, and considers them yours.
She did apologize for not getting back to you sooner. She's 66 yrs old and moving has taken it's toll. She's been crazy busy, and tired I'm sure.

Thank you Deb. Vickey just called my Mom and talked to her. I hope she isn't upset, I wasn't in any way trying to bash her for not contacting us. I was just concerned because I hadn't heard anything, my Mom kept assuring me she is just very busy.

I trust Vickey 100% and I kept trying to explain that she is a good breeder. I don't know why people kept assuming the worst.

Thanks for clearing that up and I apologize for anything I said that was wrong. I tend to be a little jumpy on breeders in some of the high puppy mill states no offense.

Because all the facts were not there, there was some misinformation and some confusion with the last name. Once you stick around long enough you will understand why me and a lot of us are very passionate about breeders and breeding. Some of us have seen and been through things you could not imagine. It really is all about the dogs in the end that's all. Many people will come on here saying there breeders are reputable but then they turn out not to be so just taking someone's word isn't always the best.

ZoesMama, no problem. We expect the worse here because we've seen the worst! It just so happens I know Vickey, and she is a good breeder.
Vickey's attended Shows with me, and many a road trip with me. She's country honest, but sometimes that becomes country thinking which some city folk just doesn't understand.. she was shocked that mini was thought of a ploy to get more money.
Ask her about her Bow and arrow competitions. She was World Champion a few years back. She's quite the lady, and loves her Yorkies. You will do great with your new little addition!

I texted Vickey and apologized. I feel very bad all of this got took way out of hand! I have a lot to learn, obviously..lol! I understand everyones concern though. I apologize for not stating all of the facts. I'm very glad Deb was here to clear everything up. Vickey is a wonderful woman and she loves her pups. I would recommend anyone in Missouri to go to her for a yorkie.

Zoe's mom u were having a conversation...so to speak...you don't have to be apologetic, you were confused and a bit nervous, you NEED to always be outspoken when it comes to your pup....read in the library here on YT, armed with the info provided by our wonderful experienced members you will learn how to deal with your breeder and vets etc, there is information provided on all the things you need to ask and know etc

It's obvious you want to be a Great Yorkie Mom....I'm sure you will be!
