Preparing for Zoe Okay everyone! So far this is what I have gotten: Crate Doggy pen Dog bowls Blankets Toys Collar Nutra Cal Brush Bows ;) Is there anything else I need to get before she comes home next week? Her breeder is providing a month supply of royal canin puppy food, so I don't need any of that just yet. I know I need shampoo and conditioner but am unsure what brand is the best. I'd prefer a brand I can just get from petco or petsmart rather than having to order offline. Thanks in advance! :) |
If you plan on teaching her to use pads - you'll need those? Also, maybe a harness and leash? She'll be too young to walk before all of her shots and stuff but those few weeks go by quickly so best to be prepared! Oh and LOTS of puppy shampoo!!!!! I made sure mine was antibacterial and tear free. Puppies are messy to their environments and themselves! So exciting! |
Oh my gosh you just saved me. I can't believe I forgot pee pads! Thank you for reminding me, lol! |
No problem. So that they don't go directly on the floor, I bought Teddy a cat box which had a top on it and just removed the top and put his pads on the bottom of the box. This way, the pee stays contained and doesn't run out onto your floors and he has happily used this with virtually no accidents since he was 14 weeks old. We brought him home at 12 weeks. We bought the cat tray with a top because, with him being a boy, thought he may need the higher sides for when he lifted his leg. You, however, will not have this problem so you could buy a cat tray and either teach her to jump in and out of it (which Teddy does with no problem at all) or just alter the sides for easy access. I clean his box with antibac wipes at the beginning and end of each day, too. I saw the pic of Zoe in the pic area - gosh, she's gorgeous! |
That is a brilliant idea, I never thought about that! Thank you for sharing it with me. I was a bit worried about her pee running onto my floor. And thank you! When I first met her she was very shy and laid back. Her breeder text me and said Zoe has came out of her shell a bunch! I'm looking forward to seeing it for myself, lol. |
Check out my Blog http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/blo...arter-kit.html I have a list. Puppy Starter Kit Puppy food - whatever puppy is eating now Tube of Nutra Cal Blankets Potty pads Potty pad holder Iris 4 sided expen with 2 extra sides Toys Identification tags Nature’s Miracle Treats- Cheerios work well Small bowls Harness Leash Puppy shampoo Conditioner Espree Pet Facial Cleanser - plum Baby wipes Nail clippers Kwik Stop Styptic Powder Curved scissors Brush - Li'l Pals Slicker Purple and Green Brush for Kittens, Extra Small - slicker brush that I find it to work awesome... just make sure you get one without any ball on the ends of the pins so it doesn't snag the long hair. Comb - Groomaster Finishing Dog Comb - this is a great eye comb, I have it and use it to get eye boogies out and even to use around their butt when they get some dry puppy stuck! Books "Yorkies For Dummies" "Yorkshire Terriers: A Smart Owners Guide" "How to Housebreak Your Dog in 7 Days" |
Didn't you just post she was 6 weeks old? Yorkies should not leave there moms until 12 weeks and reputable breeders know that. You also need a harness because you should never use a leash hooked to a collar, collars are only good for id tags. |

Don't forget to also buy a towel or use an old absorbent towel for bath time! |
Yes, I did. However I was assuming that was her age. Her breeder never told me her age, we got side tracked talking about other things every time I was about to ask. Her breeder has been breeding for years and is registered with my state. She's very reputable. She will not let her pups go unless she thinks they're ready. So I may not be getting zoe next week. I'm still preparing for her regardless though. Thank you everyone! |

By "registered with my state" did you mean registered by AKC or USDA or...? What breeder are you getting her from? Is it yorkies-playhouse.com..? The kennels in the background of your profile pic look like the ones shown on the website. |

Best of luck!!!! :D |
The breeders website is mmyorkies.com. She doesn't use that website anymore, though. She's in the process of moving from my town to a town 40 minutes away, so I haven't been able to see how the puppies are kept. She seems like a very nice lady who knows what she is doing. I haven't heard from her about Zoe in awhile though, so I'm going to contact her tomorrow and see what is going on. |
My mom put a deposit on Zoe's sister and was suppose to pick her up last week- the breeder said she wanted to wait one more week because she didn't think the pup was ready yet. My mom hasn't heard from the breeder. We are becoming concerned. P.s- my moms puppy is from a different litter. Her puppy was 2 1/2 weeks older than Zoe. |
