YT 500 Club Member | Only 4 months old and marking like crazy! Thank god I got izzy fixed right away. Cause Toby is peeing on the pads but marking all over the damn place. He's ony 4 months old! Is that normal? I mean, isn't he still in puppy stage? Maybe it's just cause I'm used to big huge Rottweilers and Pitt Bulls , that I figured it'd be a while before he started that... But actually NONE of my past male four legged children ever marked in the house. I'm getting him fixed this week while izzy is still in recovery mode, so I don't have to do this all over again with the whole separation situation and what not. Will that get him to stop? I'm spending way too much time steam cleaning lately, that's all I know. It's a good thing he's cute. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Marking is tough. He's young enough where it's still possible that neutering may help. If people wait too long, then neutering may have none to little effect. I sure hope it works for you!

| I have no answer but this is my experience. We got Dex as a rescue at just over 3 months and he had just been neutered. Which I now understand was way young, but it was not our doing and it's done. Anyway, SINCE then he's started cocking his leg to pee outdoors and has recently started marking in the house. All my reading seems to indicate that shouldn't happen, but there you go, it IS happening. He's just over 5 months now. |

| I think 4 months is way to early to nueter I would wait until he is around 6 months. Hen you see him do it'll him no and he needs to be kept in a smaller space and not have full run of the house.

| I didn't have problems with Bos marking, but at 4 months old he peed everywhere because his bladder is small. I kept him tethered to me on a leash so that I could see him at all times and stop him if he ever got the urge to pee. |

agree.. Teddy started lifting his leg around 4 months after I was assured by countless sources that he wouldn't do this until he was a year old! He started marking around 8 months (maybe sooner, but 8 months is when I caught him). When I did catch him, I corrected him with, "NO!" and he never did it again. I know that neutering can SOMETIMES help but it isn't a guarantee so I think you have to train as well to really get the message through that the behavior is not acceptable. | |

| Pao marks outside the house but won't mark inside. Maybe walk him more often and teach him that he may mark outside but not inside.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | How can you be sure it's marking, at that age, they like to pee all the time. Joey would pee about every 15 minutes, that's why we kept our eyes glued to him if he were out of his x-pen.

YT 500 Club Member | well, he will squat to pee and he pees on the puppy pads. a good amount, too... but he will go over two minutes later and lift his leg by the wall and dribble on it. i find squirrely little lines of dribble by the corners and walls just minutes to moments after he actually pees all the time. i steam clean almost every day so when he does it i notice it right away. and so far, none of the enzyme cleaners have done much for a deterrent. |

YT 500 Club Member | Yeah I think I might have to resort to tethering him to me. But it's hard cause I have izzy, too. And he gets excited and yanks to get at her and it's hard to get anything done . But I may just have to buck up and do it. Unless I want to spend the next 15 years of my life cleaning up after him. |
