| I was in Petsmart on sat. Most people walked up to me and said oh a lil teacup yorkie . I cringed and tried to hold my tounge . I could not i said politely i might add that she is just smaller not a teacup a standard yorkie even though she is only 2.5 lbs . the lady said oh she is pretty. I simled and continued to shop. The term is here to stay , just not for my lil peanut. |

| When Vivi was smaller(she is now a whopping 4.5 lbs.@18 months) I used to get stopped all the time with people wanting to know if she was a Teacup. I always said, "No, She's just the runt of the litter but we love her to pieces anyway!!!!" THat usually shut them up.

| I only get mad when people ask why is Mellie so big (4 1/2 lbs) what happened to her. Mac only weighs 2 1/2 they say oh he's a teacup. I tell them he is the extremely rare Midget Yorkie while Mellie is the even rarer giant Yorkie. Some people just crack me up.

while bunjee is small and still mistaken for a "teacup" i shall now dub him, the rare breed of PYGMY YORKIE. and when he's all grown up to his adult size, he will hence forth be dubbed the rare breed of PRODIGIOUS YORKIE. | |

| Big at 4 1/2 lbs??? Wow,some people are just naive I honestly think that those who think that a 4lb dog is big should sit and do some reading 4 1/2 lbīs is very very small, even for a yorkie and those that ask you "whats the matter with her?" SHOULD be corrected because these are the kind of people that want a yorkie for all the wrong reasons.I know when someone LOVES this breed because they show interest in them, they WANT to learn, they ask questions and accept advice..those who are looking for a 2lb pet (and think THATS the standard) just because its super cool,it fits in a bag and will get them attention DONT love yorkies at all, they just want a fashion accesory..these are the ones that cant be educated unfortunately |

And Sully's ears are kinda floppy too. I wouldn't trade him for a BAZILLION dollars!!!!! But sometimes people gasp when they see Sully like he's some mutant huge yorkie. Umm, no? He's just as skinny as a 6lb'er but he's a couple inches longer....making the extra weight, I guess. I've compared him and he's just as tall and size around as a smaller dog, just longer.I ran into this ignorant woman with a 2lb yorkie the other day @ PetSmart and she was talking about trying to find a stud to breed her! I was like, you DO know you're putting the mother's life in great danger when she's that small? And she and her boyfriend just blankly stared at me. (These people were greasy and smelled bad, on top of it all....if you know what I mean.) PS. Sully says he wants to be a PRODIGIOUS YORKIE too!

| I am afraid this phrase is here to stay no matter what anyone feels about it. There are just too many people using the term.

| Gina~ I love your insight from Spain in the area of alternatives to spaying and now this... I would much rather they say "teacup" than "dwarf". |

| Yorkie Lover Donating Member | When we get stopped and asked if Magic is a teacup (she is barely 5lbs)...we always just politely say "no, yorkies only have one size and she was just the runt of the litter" most of the time people leave it at that...we can't change how the world thinks, all we can do is politely correct people who use that word!! Callie is gorgeous as always...I love seeing pictures of her!!
