I am curious about what you said that your vet does a stool sample first when you go in for your shots. Does that mean he takes a stool sample first and then you wait there for the results before he will give her the shots? I never heard this before if I understand you right. When I go in they get a stool sample from me for him and give him shots. Then they tell me the results of his stool sample.So to do otherwise is not good procedure? Also,if there has been even the tiniest bit of blood in his stools some of the time it is not good for him to get any shots?Thank you in advance for any help you offer with my questions.

I am not an expert so I'm not saying what's happening at my vets is the only way. But yes, usually a vet tech will get the sample and then by the time the vet sees us, he knows the results. I am not saying the way your vet is doing it is wrong. But if your pups are having diarrhea, mucus, or blood I would discuss waiting on the shots with the vet. Usually those symptoms can indicate something is going on. Just my opinion.

I'm guessing they get the sample from you as soon as you walk in the office and check in. The stool sample check doesn't take long. The vet probably has the results by the time you even go back to meet with the vet. One time I went and the vet was just checking her over and someone popped in to tell her the results of the stool sample were negative. They just might wait till the end to tell you?

Your guess is right. They do get the sample from me right away so no doubt as you have said they know the results in just a quick amount of time. Never thought of that one. Thanks so much for taking the time to answer my post.
