| Coffee is toxic We all know coffee is toxic for our canine babies. I have ran across ppl that dunk cookies into their coffee and feed to their dogs or lets their dog lap up a bit of their coffee, coffee has milk and sugar or just milk no sugar, so far I have not heard of black coffee with sugar or just plain black coffee. These are not friends, just ppl I have ran across through friends. All are “know it all” yet knows nothing about the health of their babies. These are not yorkies by the way, they are mixed breeds or various pedigrees. For starters, I would never think to give any dog a human cookie. So I guess my question is…Is it ok for a dog to have a bit of coffee if it has milk in it, or milk and sugar in it. Lets not even address the dunking of the cookies. I am soooo against this.

| My cat likes coffee if it is toxic to dogs it probably for cats too but I cant tel you how many times I have caught her with her paw in my coffee cup. I think she likes the cream I put in it, MY husband gives my yorkies tiny bites of chocolate which is a no no but they are nine and never had an adverse reaction to it

| My grandmom basically drinks melted coffee ice cream (tons of light cream and sugar), one of our yorkies always stole it, he was 5lbs and lived to be 17. Lola used to steal my coffee (with milk) as a tiny pup, she hasn't done it lately but she never had any problems. I also give my dogs the occasional bit of cookie, usually oatmeal or chocolate chip without the chocolate, and a variety of other people foods. All of my dogs have lived long, mostly healthy lives. Never much, just a taste or as a meal if it's healthy for them. When my poodle was dying of CHF she stopped eatting, the vet and I agreed it didn't matter what she ate as long as she ate, so she'd get things like pizza. She lived longer than he thought she would. |

| The problem with coffee is the caffeine. yes, this we all know, does the caffeine get weak when milk, cream or 1/2 n 1/2 is added? Caffeine is still caffeine.

| I still can't process why anyone who loves their pet would even want to risk it. It's like saying, "I did crack while pregnant and my baby turned out fine!" |

| My babies love coffee and tea as well....I drink my caffeine laced coffee first thing in the morning....the rest of the day, I drink decaf, with coffee mate liquid and sugar.....and mine love to sit with me and.....HOLD ON!!!....I dunk graham crackers in the coffee and they each eat some.....it is a treat, not a meal, and they know they do not get a lot of it! In the evening, we will frequently do decaf tea....during the summer, we do iced tea......there again, not a lot but they do enjoy laps of iced decaf tea when we are outside.....The good thing about this is when they dont feel well and I am worried about keeping them hydrated, they will happily share my decaf tea with me....I have done this for years....no problem with any of my crew.... |

| My vet who is a nutritionist said teddy can have vanilla wafers cookies. I wouldn't dunk in coffee though.

| Can someone please explain to me WHY anyone would give their dog something potentially harmful? What is your thought process? Pros: Nothing Cons: May kill your dog Really, what good comes out of it? It's completely unnecessary, irresponsible and borederline abusive. |

| Lookingforone, you are going to do things YT doesn't agree with and thinks are dangerous, no one is perfect. Didn't you post that you drive with your dog in your lap? If a dog enjoys the occasional lick of coffee or cookie dunked in it I don't see the problem. IMO it's safer than 3/4 of the dog treats out there. |

| I drove with my dog in my lap once, the first day I got him. He was secured in my arms the entire time. Being taken from his family and on a car ride home with strangers was scary for him and I felt he needed affection. The posts above implied they are giving their dog more than a "lick." I don't plan on agreeing with everyone's posts. But don't think for a minute I won't say something about it. Having a newcomer on here reading posts like "coffee is toxic but my dog is 7yo and I give him a cup daily!" Is dangerous. My input here is needed for new dog owners that might make the mistake of trusting the people whose dogs are EXCEPTIONS and not the general rule. But even with exceptions, there is still a possibility if a bad outcome one day. |

I'm glad you are like this, whether I agree or not 100%. But your pup will live a good long life! I'm one of those who didn't do the research, I threw grapes for my pup to catch...almost lost her, it was horrible. I have refused to have grapes, onions, macadamia nuts etc., in my house ever since. Driving with a dog on your lap, even for a short trip is NOT ok, they don't let you drive a newborn home from the hospital in your arms!
