| Went supply shopping today... And now I'm looking at new toys, bed, harness, leash food, treats, etc...and it is not helping the wait. Ahhhh! And, it sounds so weird, but I am going to try putting his bed in a laundry basket at nighttime so he can't wander and he can be right next to me for the first few nights. Sounds silly, but I kind of felt genius when I thought of it. Lol. Don't want him in an actual crate, and his pen won't be next to us. The basket is tall enough so he won't be able to hop out right away. |

| lol I love puppy shopping too. Laundry basket sounds kool as long as he doesn't chew on it. He's such a beautiful lil boy, he's gonna be one spoiled lil prince lol.

| It's just temporary because I know I'm gonna be an overprotective freak at first. The sides of his bed are high enough to prevent him chewing on the basket itself for now, and of course he will have toys too. |

| It's good to get them used to a crate though so if they ever have to stay in one at the vet or even groomer they will be used to it instead of it freaking them out. If you don't like the idea of a a metal crate they make plastic and soft ones. Callie was not thrilled with a crate as a puppy but it kept her safe and from going potty every where and when she was potty trained and trust worthy I left it open. Now at 7 she loves sleeping in her cave and it is always left open. I taught her the command go to bed and she would gets a small night time treat and still does for that.

Honestly, there is really very rarely going to be a time where he will be at home by himself. Our favorite adult hang out (ahem...bar, lol) is super dog friendly, so he will even be able to come out with us sometimes when we get a sitter for the kids. I'm a stay at home mom and my husband works directly downstairs from our apartment. | |
