| I'm a little nervous this morning.... Macy and I were asked to go to the local library this morning with a group of therapy dogs to visit with some 3rd and 4th graders. She and I visit nursing homes but never a room full of energetic little kids. I hope she doesn't get "ramped up" with all the energy in the room. She is always the smallest dog there and of course the kids gravitate to her because of her size. This may be our first and last visit to a library.

| Good luck at this first venture of energetic room of children, I hope lil Macy does well. Children do get very excited when they see very small dogs, I wouldn't let a bunch of children greet her all at one time, I would have them come one at a time, say hello to her, pet her a few times, then have the other children do the same thing. Please let us know how you made out.

| We made it. Somewhere in the translation I was told the group was going to be 3rd and 4th graders....turned out to be 3 and 4 year olds with mothers...YIKES!!!! Macy did pretty well for her first time in a library There was one little girl that was getting pretty rough so I picked Macy up and put her in my lap until the little girl calmed down. Other than the little girl incident, Macy just laid down by my leg and watched the kids. The librarian asked us to come back so we must not have been a total failure. This is such a neat program and the kids enjoyed it too so I guess we will be visiting more libraries in the future.

| I am glad it went well. I think it is nice socialization for pups and for kids to learn to interact appropriately together, with supervision. I would want to stress not to let kids hold her when they are standing up..... always make them sit down on the floor for holding so she doesn't get dropped. Nice that they had parents there too. I have taken my pups to my granddaughter's school several times; when she was in first grade I nervously took Kayla and Karlee dressed in their little pink sundresses, and the kids loved it. The first thing was to get the kids calmed down, not to rush the dogs, and to sit and wait to hold one.

| I am happy to hear everything went well! 3 to 4 year olds, oh my, that is a challenge. I think only one little incident means it was a great success. I agree with Sandy that this is a great way to help introduce children to how to behave appropriately with a dog. I'm always really nervous letting little kids pet Max because they want to rub on top of his head in circles, LOL. I have to demonstrate for them how to pet.

I also get nervous when very small children want to grab/pet Phoebe. I have to force myself to remember how important it is as socialization for Phoebe & a learning lesson for the child to be gentle with animals. I always make the child sit if they want to hold Phoebe, and I sometimes even hold their hand to make sure they pet GENTLY. My pet peeve is when a child rushes up & pets a dog without asking first. I always explain that even though Phoebe doesn't bite, some dogs do, so they should always ask before petting!
