I have taken my pups to my granddaughter's school several times; when she was in first grade I nervously took Kayla and Karlee dressed in their little pink sundresses, and the kids loved it. The first thing was to get the kids calmed down, not to rush the dogs, and to sit and wait to hold one.
I asked them all to sit down in a circle on the floor and Macy was laying in the middle of the circle. I also had her on a leash and I was holding the leash. The little girl was trying to pet Macy but she was actually pulling Macy's hair on her face so I picked Macy up and put her on my lap. The library left it up to us how much interaction we wanted to do with the kids. This little girl moved so fast and was on top of Macy in a split second. You can tell I forget how quick little kids can get into trouble.
