| Another Potty Advice Needed! I had blocked off the dining room area b/c Zoey would go in to potty from time to time. She's been good with the pads in room across that where 2 pads are located. It's been 3 years now and I took away the gate that's blocking the dining room. Today, I come home and go to check to see if she peed there. Since it's a oriental rug, it's hard to tell. So I call her over and asked her. "Did you pee here?" Her reply... yes.. yes she did. She gave me that look. I'm sure many of you know what I'm talkinga about. The "I know I'm not supposed to but I did anyway. Still, I'm really cute and you love me so forgive me" look. Combined with rolling over to show her tummy. Other than blocking the room again, can you guys throw out some suggestions I can try? My mom lets both her and Magnus out often throughout the day but Zoey seems to prefer to potty inside. How about I spray some vinager/water mix on the rug? Make it less appealing to mark? |

| Try letting her out to potty, then back in, then right back out again. Give her treats and up the praise when she does it right (like a party coming from your mouth, best thing she's ever heard, different than anything else, and do a Happy Dance)(Get it to the level where she's not sure if she should stay and enjoy the celebration or run away from you). Does she understand when you tell her to 'Go potty' or 'make a pee'? If not she needs to learn that association, so you can get control over this.

She does go on the pad when I'm home. The problem is when I'm not home. I saw the pads that I put in the dining room was used before going to bed but when I first got home, ALL the pads were clean. Mom said she let them out like every hour but she didn't see Zoey pee. I'd much prefer she lose interest in that room all together. | |

I'd gate the room when you're working, and ungate it for training purposes only. When she heads in there, get in front of her and walk towards her so she has to back up, when she's out of the room, it's 'Good Girl' and a treat.
