You and your Mom have to get on the same page with the training. Being consistent (same commands, same rewards) is key in training any dog.

I'd gate the room when you're working, and ungate it for training purposes only. When she heads in there, get in front of her and walk towards her so she has to back up, when she's out of the room, it's 'Good Girl' and a treat.
