| Eating paper Hi my name is Melissa and I have an 8month old yorkie. Her name is precious , I've been having issues with her eating paper plastic and cardboard. I don't know what to do I hide them but I guess my grand kids are leaving it around. Is it harmful? |

| My Rory grabs paper and runs away with it, ever so happy. lol It's her favorite thing to chew on. I don't know if it's bad for her or not, but I've assumed it is, and I take it away. Paper, plastic, cardboard... I'm sure none of those will be good for a puppy. My kids leave things around, so I have to watch Rory carefully and take anything away that she grabs. She gets huffy with me, but I'd rather have her huffy than sick! |

| Plastic is definately bad. It could have edges that perforate the intestine or stomach. Paper is bad also, because it could cause a bowel obstruction. That being said, my Huey has eaten (and passed) entire paper towels, receipts, kleenex, toilet paper and any other paper product he can get his paws on. He loves paper almost as much as he loves cheese! He has also passed bits of foil, pieces of plastic ink pens and part of a wicker chair he ate. So while you do your best to keep these things away from your pup, they do have a tendancy to get into stuff. Because of this, I monitor each and every poop, even though that is gross, just to make sure he remains healthy of if I feel a visit to the vet for an xray is in order.

| Draco favorite thing to rip and chew n is paper/plastic. So I bought him toys that were similar. He has a few plushies that have like a paper crinkle sound to them, and one that has a water bottle inside of the plushie. Whenever I'd catch him with paper/plastic I'd substitute it for a toy. Every once in a while he'll go for a qtip he's found or something but it's easy to get him to let it go.

| I think this is rather normal and common. I have always noticed Mickey having a paper fetish. He he. Only thing I can say is I try to avoid but nothing has come of it. It may also be because he doesnt ingest. He just likes the act of shredding the paper.
