| Does this breeder still breed Cocker Spaniels or any other breeds, or just Yorkies now. The 3 Yorkies are adorable. How old are they in the photos when you saw them, and how long until you get yours?

The babies were seven weeks old when we saw them. They will likely be ready to come home late January to early February. She wants to make sure they are completely done nursing and grown enough before sending them off.

| I would pick the little girl! I have 2 yorkies one is almost 14 months and the other is 6 months, they are both girls. However, I am not telling you to pick the girl because of that. My older girl is a pistol, hyper as all get out but she loves to play with both my husband and I and she loves to lay on either of our laps. Our baby girl is very calm and loves either of us and sleeps on either of us too. I picked our girls mainly because of boys hiking their legs on everything and you can't give a good belly rub to a boy lol. No really I chose my girls based on their personalities. My Molly (older girl) wasn't as hyper when we brought her home but she does calm down and lay with us on the sofa. She is almost potty trained (I can say both girls are stubborn on that issue). You have to chose the one that you think fits best for you! I didn't get to spend much time with either of the pups before I brought them home, mainly because the breeders lived 3 hours away. Which ever one you choose will be the right one for you! Godd luck and keep us posted!

| The general rule is to find the one that isn't too lazy and also isn't too hyper. So you want the pup thats in the middle of the two, but ultimately you'll want the pup that picks you out. I had the choice of 2 from a litter of 4. A boy that was very hyper, liked to chase and bite on his momma, or the smaller more laid back shy girl. I chose the girl, because I'm a quiet laid back person. The other 2 were already gone, I got the only girl in the litter and she ended up being the runt, and smallest the breeder ever had. She's fierce though, loves tug-of-war and feet attacking while we walk lol! The thing I noticed is that she doesn't bark much, only when she needs to potty or wants to play. Usually its just a tiny small pitched yap. Some of the more hyper and rambunctious ones can be noisy! I also wanted a girl dog because I knew I was going to indoor train and they are easier for that since they squat instead of spray. Last edited by Rainbows; 12-10-2013 at 07:43 AM. |

It's too bad you can't spend more time with them to choose. While it is nice to see the breeding facility, I understand it is not always possible. There are breeders who have had their property and pets infected with parvo, brought in from outside, and it can be emotionally and financially devastating. Others are concerned about theft, as burglars have been known to steal whole litters of Yorkies, knowing how valuable they are. Just make sure you get a good health guarantee. Are they AKC registered? All 3 look like perfect little Yorkies, and I know you will be happy with which ever one you get. If the breeder knows you and your family, she may be of great help in picking the right one for you.

The puppies do come with their first vaccines and deworming, they come with a year long genetic and general health guarantee, and they ARE AKC registered. Everything checks out. Also, I know the pictures are real because the puppies look like their parents and in turn look like the puppy pictures on the web site. In addition, the pictures appear to have not been taken professionally or photoshopped, so I have no reason to doubt them I am not being pressured by the breeder at all. She has been nothing but sweet to us. All the pressure to make my decision early is coming from my parents- and I agree with them. I just have trouble making decisions, which is why I posted here. :P There's also no rush to get the puppy. The reason we saw the pups when we did was because it was my 20th birthday and the puppy is my birthday present. Last edited by MissAlex; 12-10-2013 at 10:41 AM.

YT 1000 Club Member | I think the Breeders you guys are talking about are pretty easy going. The one I deal with doesn't allow visits at his place, but, insists on coming over to yours, to see if he thinks you should have a puppy of his. Plus, I had to put my name on a list and wait for nearly a year to get pups from him. That's because he only allows one Liter per year. And, I wouldn't have qualified, unless I had a referral from someone he had done business with before. I think it would have been easier, if I was applying for a job at a Government Agency

YT 1000 Club Member | A PS to my previous post... (that darn five minute rule got me) I was NOT complaining ! I FULLY support tough requirements and encourage you Breeders to be very selective on your placements. Our Yorkies are so unique, so individual, and they deserve any and all considerations that you can provide them with, for a placement which will provide them with the quality environment they disserve.

| I am glad you feel confident about the breeder. I know you got your other dog from her and he has been a great pet and that is great. It's just that the way she is conducting her business is just like a puppy mill or broker for a puppy mill would work. They don't want people to see the conditions that the dogs are kept in so they will not let anyone on the premises. They sell on an individual basis as well as to pet stores and brokers. The broker takes the puppies from the mill and sells them out of their home online or they out of a vehicle. I have known great professional breeders for most of my life. They usually do not allow people into their homes to see the pups until after they have at least had their first shots and maybe the second set as well. They usually have a special area just for pups to be visited and played with. They don't let the pups go until they are at least 12 weeks so they have plenty of time to sell the pups and usually have waiting lists for their pups. If they have a smaller pup that is not growing as fast as the others they may keep it a bit longer until they are confident it is big and strong enough to make the transition easily. While your breeder seems to be protecting the pups she is actually stressing very young pups when she takes them out and drives them to various places. She is also badly stressing the mother. As I said I have known some of very well respected breeders of dogs and I was once a breeder of CFA Himalayan cats. Good breeders always have very good references and many ways for people to find out who they are and how they conduct their business...no secrets. I have never met a responsible breeder that showed pups from their vehicle. I'm not trying to pressure you or to make you think badly of this woman you are dealing with. I just want you to think about this. I'm not saying the pups are not adorable, they certainly are, but if they are from a bad breeding program you could be facing some real heartbreak. Yorkies are especially susceptible to genetic defects due to breeding issues. Not all puppy mill or byb pups have problems but the ones that do tend to have long standing and very expensive health problems. I know these pups are adorable and they may make nice pets. I just feel it is unfair to you or anyone who is picking out a pet, that may live for many years in your home, without seeing the parents and actually getting to experience what the pup is like, and you certainly have every right to see where they came from. There are other adorable puppies out there. I hope your mom will give you a chance to look around and not be pressured into a hasty deal. |

| Well, looks like it's the little male that will be going home with me! I called the breeder today, and my mom is going to work out the details of the deposit later. Thank you all so much for helping me with this huge decision. According to the breeder, the pup should be ready to come home sometime between mid January and early February. I can assure you all that as soon as I have more pictures of my little man, I'll be sure to post them! Last edited by MissAlex; 12-11-2013 at 10:21 PM. |

| Congratulations (and Happy Birthday). The little boy is adorable, they all are. I can't wait to hear all about him and see photos. Will you wait until you get him to pick a name, or do you have something in mind already. That is a long wait, but I am sure he is worth it. Good luck.

| I have a name in mind for him. Currently, I'm leaning on Levi. But Rocket and Stewie sound good too. My mom wants to call him Pistol Pete for some reason. XD I'm probably going to stick with Levi at this point, but who knows... I may change my mind! :P
