| TV in background when I go out. Yes? No? When I'm home I tend to leave the TV on -- news channels -- unless I'm reading or playing music or sleeping, so I leave it on for Ruger when I go out. Is this good or bad? Does it make any difference? Would dogs rather have quiet or conversation in the background? I'd hate to turn the TV off and come home with a chewed up couch and rug, although currently he is very good when I'm not home. I think I remember reading that a lot of people leave the TV or radio on for the dog when they go out, although I think the dog knows nobody is home. |

| I leave the tv on so that if a robber stands at the door, they will hear the TV on an think maybe someone is home....that is what the security people told me to do. My dogs watch whatever we watch on TV....I used to have one that LOVED "Cops". especially when a K-9 unit was involved ! My friend did him a little vest that says, "Officer Bumper, K-9 Detail" on it! |

| I think it depends on what your pup is accustomed to. We rarely have the TV sound on, so my boys don't like it.

| I had never even thought of it, but this made me realize my TV goes on in the sunroom when we get up in the morning, and it stays on until we go to be at around 2am! Then the TV in my bedroom goes on, and I leave it on all night long....white noise???.......silence is deafening and I just can not sleep if there is NO noise!!! |

| I always leave the TV on for Huey in the bedroom when we are gone. Since he has the whole house, he can choose to lay in the den where it is quiet or in the bedroom with the TV (unless we will be gone for many hours, then we close him in the bedroom with the potty pads).

I agree, silence is deafening. When we travel, we turn off everything in the house except the refrigerator. The silence is unbearable!

| I turned on the cartoon network just a little while ago...Bugs Bunny...Roadrunner...Tom and Jerry...because it was so quiet that every little noise outside was sending them, barking, to the door. When I trim shrubs, etc., I put football, etc. on...for the human voices and assorted 'odd' sounds without the 'chaos' of regular 'programming' LOL...but I keep the volume low just to soften any additional, outside sound.

| I've always left the tv on for Billi & a light if I have to leave at night. Pretty sure she just sleeps the whole time, but it makes me feel better about it anyway

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Alfie is not interested in TV, unless he hears a dog barking or door/phone ringing. We don't leave the TV or radio on and he seems happy lying in the bay window cill watching the world go by.
