| ![]() The himalayan chews don't harbor bacteria, as long as it's kept dry. Himalayan Dog Chew The way the dogs eat these chews is by licking it, get it somewhat soft & then grind it off w/their teeth. There's minimal risk of teeth breakage, but it can happen. They work through the small pcs pretty fast but it still lasts a lot longer than bullies. I took it away when the pcs got too small, about 2-3". So I always got the med or large pcs for them & it lasted 4ever. They do say that you can nuke the smaller pcs in the microwave to make cheese puffs, but I never tried it...heard that it stinks up the whole house!

I make these from time to time for snacks. Zoey takes a while to get through it but Magnus is a different story... ![]()

I bought a dehydrator b/c I wanted to make snacks for the furbutts. LOL I've made different dried fruits and veggies and chicken jerky. Just bought a bulk chicken breast from Costco and made a batch. Lasted me good few months. I bought a cheap dehydrator but it does what I need and already has paid for itself and more!

| ![]() Thanks Wow, I had no idea they'd be good for so long. If she likes them she could probably finish a potato pretty quickly, but she's only 4.5lbs so I wouldn't let her have tons. |

For the Yorkie I use Nylabone Flexies. She doesn't get big chunks off and they are soft. For other pup we use the hard nylabones. They are major tooth crackers but he can break chunks off of softer chews.

I think these are better for cleaning teeth also. They are a bit pricey but they last forEVER! Sometimes when you get to a small nub, you can put them in the microwave and supposedly they puff up like popcorn (but then they are easily eaten). Out of the handful of times I've tried this trick, it only worked about twice.
